Exemplary, dedicated and devoted to his work, yet very close to the masses. These are the most precious feelings of Hanoi Party members when talking about the highest leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam – General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Leaders close to the people, for the people

In a house located deep in lane 9, Thien Quang street, Nguyen Du ward, Hai Ba Trung district (Hanoi), Ms. Nguyen Thi Hiep, Deputy Secretary of Party Cell 8, Nguyen Du ward Party Committee, Hai Ba Trung district is waiting for news about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Being both a neighbor (only two houses away from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's private home) and a member of the local Party Committee, when talking about the General Secretary, Ms. Hiep was moved to say that despite being busy with a thousand things, whenever he had free time, the General Secretary always took the time to visit and encourage the people in the neighborhood.

“On holidays and Tet, the General Secretary and the Party cell always directly visit and encourage families in special circumstances, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, veterans, soldiers affected by Agent Orange, and families with meritorious services to the revolution,” said Ms. Hiep.

Ms. Hiep shared: “Through each meeting, with a calm way of speaking, a very close lifestyle, a person with such great responsibility to the Party and the State, but through each small gesture, people can understand his feelings for those who sacrificed for the Fatherland, so the General Secretary makes people respect him even more, a leader for the country, for the people, for the development of society”.

Recalling her most recent memory, Ms. Hiep said that on the day of national solidarity held in the residential area (before the Covid-19 pandemic), this was also an event to increase national solidarity, the General Secretary attended with joy and excitement. Witnessing that, all the people were very happy with the special affection of the General Secretary for the people in the neighborhood.

"The closeness and concern of comrade made everyone very emotional, increasing the spirit of solidarity and patriotism with the leadership of the Party. We will always remember that image of beloved comrade Nguyen Phu Trong," said Deputy Secretary of Party Cell 8.

The image of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, always exemplary, devoted, and devoted to his work, was also clearly remembered by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Mui, Secretary of Party Cell 21, Vinh Tuy Ward Party Committee, Hai Ba Trung District, during the time comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Meanwhile, Mr. Khuat Minh Tri, Secretary of Party Cell 4, Tran Hung Dao Ward Party Committee, Hoan Kiem District, also expressed the respect and trust of Party members and people of Tran Hung Dao Ward when talking about the highest leader of the Party. For those who have been in the Party for more than 40 years like him, the General Secretary is a person who is always devoted to the country, the people, and the goal of developing the country according to the orientation of "Rich people, strong country, fair, democratic and civilized society.

The most profound memory he mentioned was the time when all leaders, officers and employees of the railway industry welcomed comrade Nguyen Phu Trong (then Chairman of the National Assembly) - Spring Dinh Hoi 2007 at Hanoi Station to see off the train that would welcome the New Year's Eve along the journey of the country.

“Although many years have passed, this is the most vivid image in my mind of a top-ranking state leader who is extremely simple and close to every citizen,” he said.

Thinking of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Party member Ha Tien Hien, 2/4th class war invalid, Head of the Association of Agent Orange Victims, Veterans of Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, recalled that in each meeting with voters, although the distance was several hundred meters, the General Secretary still walked to attend in very normal and simple clothes.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Que, Secretary of Party Cell 13, Giang Vo Ward Party Committee, Ba Dinh District, shared that the determination in leadership, direction, and image of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has created deep trust among the people in the Party's leadership, especially through the fight against corruption, which is extremely arduous and challenging but "says what it means," very determined, so the results achieved have created more motivation for cadres and Party members to work enthusiastically and contribute. On the macro level, the economy is increasingly developing, politics and society are stable, the country's prestige and position are enhanced.

Emphasizing the significance of the General Secretary's book, according to Mr. Que, the contents conveyed by the highest leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam in this book are not only a message to cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life, but also a strong message and commitment to the international community about the determination to prevent and combat corruption and negativity of the Party and State of Vietnam.

Quoting the General Secretary's statement: Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today, according to Mr. Que, this has also been proven on the basis of scientific analysis and reality has proven that the country's position is increasingly being raised.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai, Secretary of Party Cell 8, Giang Vo Ward Party Committee, (who studied at the Faculty of Literature, Course 23, Hanoi University of Science) shared her pride when mentioning General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, because of his determination in work but always close to party members and people.

Particularly impressed by the General Secretary's book on anti-corruption work, she herself clearly felt the dedication of the Party's highest leader in the work of "repelling internal invaders", thereby creating great trust for Party members and the people.
