The culinary site describes Vietnamese blood pudding as being made from fresh animal blood mixed with a broth mixture of fish sauce, spices, meat, etc., then allowed to coagulate. When coagulated, the blood pudding resembles a thick, chewy pudding, often served with crushed roasted peanuts, herbs, and basil.

This is a traditional dish, often prepared on special occasions. The dish is controversial because of the risk of eating bacteria from raw food, but many people still enjoy blood pudding in Vietnam.

According to Taste Atlas data, the ranking is based on the evaluation results of nearly 400,000 votes from thousands of experts, customers, and chefs. The rating is calculated by star, the highest is 5 stars. The lower the star, the worse the dish is rated.

It is known that this is not the first time that Vietnamese blood pudding has been on the list of the worst dishes rated by international visitors. Previously, in March 2024, blood pudding ranked 2nd in the top 45 worst dishes in Vietnam, while green bean cake ranked 1st.

In the list of the world's 100 worst foods in 2025, Finland's blodpalt tops the list with 1.6 stars. This is a traditional dumpling from the "happiest country in the world" with a dark brown color, made from rye flour and animal blood.
