Billionaire Elon Musk has just decided to move SpaceX and X headquarters to Texas
On July 15, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a law banning school districts from requiring teachers to notify parents when a student changes their gender identity or sexual orientation.
The new law overturns policies adopted by school districts that required teachers to notify parents if a student changes their name or pronouns, or if a student requests access to bathrooms, showers or programs that do not conform to their natural gender.
"This is the last straw. Due to this and other laws that have targeted families and businesses, SpaceX will be moving its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas," billionaire Elon Musk wrote on his X account a day after the transgender law was enacted, according to AFP on July 17.

Mr. Musk also announced that he was moving X from its headquarters in San Francisco, California, to Austin, Texas.
Previously, the American billionaire moved Tesla headquarters from Palo Alto in Silicon Valley to Austin, but still maintained the "technical headquarters" in California.
In 2021, Mr. Musk, currently the world's richest person with a net worth of $274 billion as of July 10, moved from California to Texas, a state with no personal income tax.
A few days ago, the billionaire first voiced his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump for president.
California voters have traditionally supported Democratic candidates, while Texas is considered a Republican stronghold.
