With more than 50 works created in oil, artist Do Duc has conquered the challenges of the material to recreate the beauty of rocks and mountains.
Born in 1945, artist Do Duc graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Viet Bac School of Culture and Arts in 1970. In 1980, he graduated from the Hanoi University of Fine Arts with the woodcut painting “Highland Market”. This work was included in the woodcut collection of the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.

In his opening speech, artist Do Duc said: "The Northwest and Viet Bac, along with the Dong Van stone plateau, are the heartbeat of my art. My creative style is associated with deep forests, long rivers, majestic stone plateaus, and majestic mountains of the northern border of the Fatherland.
I devoted this exhibition to mountains and rocks, with themes of stone fields, horses and living spaces on the rocky plateau, highland markets and mountain people through the image of mothers. All works are closely associated with mountains and forests. That is my artistic homeland."
The paintings named "Sunshine on Hong Ngai Range", "Morning Mist on the Highlands", "Western Slope of Son Vi", "Khau Vai Legend", "March in Xin Cai"... are like highland fairy tales contained in every stone, tree hollow, blade of grass..., then recreated in the paintings of artist Do Duc.
In addition, the artist will also introduce a book of oil paintings of the same name “Non nuoc bien thuy”, recently published by Fine Arts Publishing House, introducing about 200 oil paintings that he has created over the past 20 years.

In particular, on this occasion, artist Do Duc will auction an oil painting On the field (created in 2022, size 60x80cm). The proceeds from the sale of the painting will be donated to the “Flowers of Stone” School Construction Fund.
The artist has been working with this charity since 2013, when he went to survey locations to build the first schools. To date, the artist has joined hands with the Fund to build nearly 20 schools for remote villages in the highland communes of Ha Giang province.
The exhibition is on display until September 15 at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi).
