Implement many agricultural extension models

According to the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, since the beginning of the year, the Center has implemented a number of agricultural extension models in 2023 to be transferred to 2024.

For example, the intensive cultivation model of Chinese yam, scale 1.35 ha/2 households, implemented in Thuan Quy commune (Ham Thuan Nam); intensive cultivation of ginger, scale 7.4 ha/21 households, implemented in Dong Tien commune (Ham Thuan Bac); intensive cultivation of durian meeting VietGAP standards, scale 40 ha/11 households, implemented in Da Mi commune (Ham Thuan Bac).

In particular, the SRI organic rice production model with VietGAP certification has a scale of 25 hectares/17 households, implemented in Ham Phu commune, Hong Liem, Ham Thuan Bac district in the winter-spring crop. As a result, the rice yield reached 50 - 55 quintals/ha, profit over 20 million VND, higher than mass production of over 7 million/ha (increase of 50 - 57%). The model initially provides basic knowledge about organic production with VietGAP certification, helping households master the process so that they can apply it more effectively in the following production seasons. In addition, it is also a starting point, a study tour for local households who want to produce rice in an organic direction.

The Provincial Agricultural Extension Center said that, implementing the 2024 Agricultural Extension Program, the Center has deployed and implemented approved programs according to the schedule and crop season. Specifically, implementing intensive cultivation models of Chinese yam, scale of 2 hectares/4 households, implemented in Ham Kiem and Ham Cuong communes (Ham Thuan Nam). Currently, the model has been deployed to the locality and selected participating households, surveyed the planting land and is providing step-by-step instructions for households to prepare the land before planting. It is expected that in June, after the rain, support will be provided with seeds and materials for households to plant in time for the season. In addition, the intensive ginger cultivation model on a scale of 4 hectares implemented in Dong Giang commune (Ham Thuan Bac) is being implemented, the locality has received and implemented...

It is known that from now until the end of the year, the center will continue to coordinate with localities to deploy and implement the medicinal herb program according to the schedule and crop season. At the same time, promote the model of developing dragon fruit production and consumption chains; replicate the SRI rice model and organic agricultural models in the whole province. For the remaining approved agricultural and fishery extension programs, including demonstration models of rice production according to VietGAP standards or equivalent, training on advanced technical measures in rice production, demonstration of the application of some new high-quality rice varieties, fruit tree planting, etc. The center will coordinate with localities to agree on the area, scale and location of implementation. On that basis, build a detailed budget for the models in 2024 and submit it to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for consideration and approval to implement on schedule and season.
