Restoring production on Trinh Tuong field

Việt NamViệt Nam10/04/2025

After the circulation of storm No. 3 swept through, many fields of people in Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district were buried by rocks, the soil was washed away, and it was almost impossible to cultivate. However, currently, people are busy going to the fields to start the new production season. To have a plot of land for production, Vu A Ly's family in Na Lac village, Trinh Tuong commune had to dig up each rock and rebuild each patch of land that was washed away by the flood. Up to now, his family has restored 3 sao of rice fields out of a total of 8 sao affected by the flood.

Mr. Vu A Ly said: "The fields are all damaged, we have to use excavators to dig them up again. We can grow two rice crops a year, with the current area, the maximum yield is 15 bags of rice. I also hope for a better harvest but I don't know if the weather will affect it."

Many rice fields in Trinh Tuong commune turned into "stone fields" after the circulation of storm No. 3.

Many other households in Trinh Tuong commune have also gathered every hoe and every meter of field to resume production. Some households lost almost all of their fields, but still tried to restore a few small areas for manual cultivation.

Ms. Co Xe Bo, in San Ho village, Trinh Tuong commune, shared: "The field was filled with rocks, but after renovation, it was partially restored. Now that I can grow rice, I am also excited."

With the farmers' spirit of overcoming difficulties, the fields are gradually reviving.

Not leaving people to fend for themselves in difficult times, the Trinh Tuong commune government has mobilized local forces to support people in renovating their fields. Of the total of more than 50 hectares affected in the three villages of Tung Chin 2, Na Lac, and San Ho, nearly 20% of the area has been restored so far. In areas that were lightly affected and could be renovated, people have arranged machinery to level and transport rocks out of the fields. Many households have also received financial support to return to production soon.

"Support for restoring rice growing areas is 10 million VND/ha. The local government mobilizes all people and officials to help people overcome the affected areas. For areas that require human labor, people are mobilized to use hoes and shovels to level the fields to prepare for production; for areas that cannot be used by human labor, people are mobilized to contribute money to hire machines to level the fields and move large rocks to another place," added Mr. Ly Xuan Toan, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Trinh Tuong Commune, Bat Xat District.

Na Lac field - the place that suffered the heavy consequences of the historic flood is gradually changing its appearance. The small but strong rice seedlings will soon be green again to become rice with many grains and heavy branches. Difficulties still exist, rocks are still in the field, people's hands are still not resting, but it is from this difficult place that the spirit of overcoming difficulties and solidarity of the people is further aroused and promoted.
