Vietnamese and Singaporean Prime Ministers attend the groundbreaking ceremony of VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at witnessing a new substantive step forward in the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the groundbreaking ceremony of VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park and the exchange of cooperation documents between the two countries.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the close coordination between the two countries' governments and the business community that has made the VSIP model a success - a living symbol of strategic trust, practical efficiency and common development aspirations between Vietnam and Singapore.

The Prime Minister affirmed that today's event is a typical demonstration of the two countries' shared vision of a dynamic, creative and connected ASEAN region - where Vietnam and Singapore are concretizing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the spirit of "what is said is done, what is committed is done, what is done is done must have results".

The Prime Minister emphasized that over the past 50 years, the Vietnam-Singapore relationship has never been as good, profound, comprehensive and substantive as it is today. In particular, economic-investment-trade cooperation is a bright spot, always occupying an important position in the Vietnam-Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership.

Currently, Singapore has become the second largest investor in Vietnam with nearly 4,000 projects and Vietnam is becoming one of the most successful countries developing the Singaporean industrial park model with 20 VSIP zones - a symbol of effective, sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two governments and business communities of the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two sides agreed to promote the construction of new generation VSIPs towards sustainability, intelligence, digital transformation, green transformation and artificial intelligence application, enhancing the environmental and social responsibility of the industrial park:

"We want to continue expanding this VSIP area from the first generation to the second generation. In the very successful meeting between me and Mr. Lawrence Wong this morning, we also agreed to upgrade this VSIP industrial park to the second generation. The second generation integrates more things. In addition to industry, it also integrates science and technology, innovation, commercial areas, services, and urban areas. So the VSIP model of the first generation was very successful, but the VSIP model of the second generation must be even more successful, contributing to bringing benefits to our two peoples and two countries" - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized.

The Prime Minister hopes that relevant agencies of both sides will promote the spirit of doing what they say, doing what they commit to, and doing what they do with specific, measurable results, bringing practical benefits to the two countries and peoples.

For his part, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong assessed VSIP as a "cornerstone" in bilateral cooperation over the past three decades and that it has achieved international standards and high quality from the beginning, especially in terms of infrastructure. VSIP zones also affirm Singapore's belief in Vietnam's potential and development.

Recalling the important results in economic, trade and investment cooperation, showing that the bilateral relationship is increasingly strong and enhanced, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong stated that the two countries' upgrading of the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership not only includes all existing areas of cooperation, but also includes emerging areas such as innovation, digital economy, green economy and high technology.

He said the two sides will consider different ways to build and develop smarter VSIP zones, promote innovation, science and technology; save costs, be more efficient; be better for the environment, be greener with renewable energy sources, clean electricity. Referring to Lego's solar-powered factory in VSIP industrial park in Binh Duong, the Singaporean Prime Minister said that this is a very specific and effective model and example of green production efforts, reducing emissions following the world trend:

"VSIPs in Vietnam will increase connectivity. VSIP Thai Binh will soon be connected to Lach Huyen Port (Hai Phong) by expressway, this VSIP will become extremely important in supporting large factories in the neighboring area and attracting investment in high technology, manufacturing and processing industries" - Prime Minister Lawrence Wong commented.

Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his important contributions to the development of VSIP zones as well as the Vietnam - Singapore relationship, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong believes that VSIP zones will continue to develop strongly, become centers of innovation, pioneers in sustainable development and pillars in the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
