In June 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made his first official visit to China and attended the WEF Conference in Tianjin city.

Vietnam-China relations have developed steadily and achieved many important results. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid an official visit to China in October 2022. In December 2023, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam and the two countries issued a Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the WEF Conference clearly demonstrates Vietnam's role and mark in the context of global economic challenges.

WEF is a non-profit organization operating in the form of public-private partnership, founded in 1971 by Professor Klaus Schwab, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. WEF currently has about 700 partners who are leaders of the world's leading corporations in various fields. WEF events attract the participation of the world's leading political, business, cultural, social, research - academic leaders... to shape the agenda at the regional and global levels.

Since Vietnam and WEF established relations in 1989, the cooperation between Vietnam and WEF has been promoted and developed in many fields by the leaders of both sides. The leaders of both sides have also promoted high-level contacts and exchanges, especially between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab at the WEF Tianjin Conference (June 2023), the 41st ASEAN Summit (November 2022) and the 43rd (September 2023). Vietnam and WEF have also coordinated to organize many important conferences.

According to official information from WEF, this conference will gather more than 1,500 senior leaders from countries, international organizations, businessmen, and scholars around the world. The conference will have the theme "Next Frontiers for Growth", in the context of the latest economic forecasts showing that the global economy is entering a "soft landing" phase.

According to WEF, economic growth is recovering, inflation is falling and the rapid development of technological inventions such as artificial intelligence (AI) is driving all economic sectors forward. However, risks and tensions still exist. Only with the participation of all stakeholders and cooperation at all appropriate levels can the world unlock new frontiers of growth. There will be 6 main topics to be discussed at this Summit.
