Prime Minister hopes international friends will share experiences in developing an international financial center in Vietnam

The Prime Minister asked domestic and foreign enterprises to share experiences and give advice so that C4IR and the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City can accelerate and develop rapidly.

On the occasion of attending the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF Davos 55), on the evening of January 21, local time, in Davos, Switzerland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a seminar on "Developing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) and developing the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City" organized by Ho Chi Minh City and Sovico Group.

Also attending the seminar were: Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Ministers, leaders of ministries, branches and localities; leaders of leading Vietnamese enterprises such as: Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Vietnam Railways Corporation, FPT Joint Stock Company, Sovico Group Joint Stock Company.

In particular, there were leaders of more than 40 leading organizations, corporations, and enterprises from countries and the world in the fields of technology, energy, and finance such as: Aitomatic, Ava Labs, Bangkok Bank, Brosnan, C4IR, Grab, GS Engineering & Construction Corp, Heneiken, HSBC, Intel, JIBC, Manulife Financial, Mastercard, Mountain Partners AG, Swiss FinTech Association, The Perot Group, VISA... and representatives of WEF.

Speaking at the seminar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that both contents of the seminar, "developing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) and developing the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City", are related to the World Economic Forum.

With the efforts of all parties, the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) was inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City; at the same time, the construction of the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City was also implemented. The establishment of C4IR has contributed to promoting science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, right before the Politburo issued Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The Prime Minister said that for C4IR and the International Financial Center to operate effectively, Vietnam will continue to improve its institutions in a transparent and simplified manner and mobilize maximum resources for development; promote the construction and modernization of infrastructure including hard infrastructure, soft infrastructure, transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, information network infrastructure, innovation infrastructure, science and technology infrastructure, healthcare infrastructure, education and sports; promote human resource training...

Sharing about Vietnam's success in each change in thinking during the process of national renewal; emphasizing the viewpoint that "resources originate from thinking and vision, motivation originates from innovation and creativity, strength originates from people and businesses," the Prime Minister said that mechanisms and policies are also resources.

Assessing that the world is going through the process of greening, digitalization, diversification and many challenges such as population aging, climate change, conflicts, strategic competition..., the Prime Minister said that these are all national, comprehensive, global issues, so there must be a national, comprehensive, global approach.

The Prime Minister requested domestic and foreign enterprises, as well as leaders of ministries, branches and Ho Chi Minh City to share experiences, discuss issues of concern, especially difficulties and give advice so that C4IR and the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City can accelerate and develop rapidly, so that Ho Chi Minh City can have more symbolic works and products to celebrate the country's major holidays; create confidence and courage, contributing to the whole country entering a new era - an era of development, wealth, civilization, prosperity and the lives of the people are increasingly prosperous and happy of the Vietnamese people.

At the seminar, delegates discussed the role of the C4IR Center and its potential to become a technology center of the ASEAN region and the world; shared experiences in building and developing financial center cooperation with foreign partners, opportunities for cooperation and development with the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center; especially recommendations for Vietnam and investment plans in Vietnam.

Delegates focused on discussing strategies to attract capital and international partners, aiming to turn Ho Chi Minh City into a leading financial center in the region and the world; emphasizing the role of this center as an important bridge between international businesses and the Vietnamese market.

Committed to working side by side with Vietnam in developing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) and developing the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City, delegates proposed that Vietnam continue to improve institutions, hard and soft infrastructure such as transportation, energy, logistics, digital infrastructure; have preferential policies; promote the market, build an ecosystem for science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, finance, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, founding Chairman of Sovico Group, said that Sovico's important achievements in fields such as aviation, finance, and real estate are the foundation for the group to continue investing in new strategic fields such as technology, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy.

Sovico commits to accompany the Government in national initiatives on artificial intelligence and semiconductors, contributing to building high-tech capacity, building a modern and smart Vietnam, developing rapidly and sustainably in the new era; believing that Vietnam will become a new high-tech center of the region in the future.

After Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and the Ministers answered the opinions of foreign corporations and investors, ending the discussion, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee respectfully thanked the delegates for their dedicated and valuable opinions; the city will study and supplement the city's development strategy; at the same time, he hopes to continue receiving support and advice from international friends on institutional improvement, human resource training, management and operation experience, building modern synchronous infrastructure and calling on international financial organizations to operate at the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center.
