The 4th VinFuture Awards ceremony brings together hundreds of the world's most outstanding "brains" in key fields and contributes to shaping the future development of the world, such as materials science, artificial intelligence, medicine, environmental research, etc. Among them are many researchers who are the owners of prestigious international awards, such as Nobel, Millennium Technology, Turing, etc. and the owners of previous VinFuture Awards. In addition, VinFuture 2024 also attracts special attention from the public with the presence of leading names in the world and Vietnam in the field of culture and arts. VinFuture 2024 attracts a record number of nearly 1,500 research projects, nominated by more than 9,000 partners from more than 80 countries and territories around the world. The number of international scientists becoming nominating partners increased nearly 8 times, the number of nominations increased 2.5 times compared to the first season, demonstrating the stature, influence and international prestige of VinFuture. This year's VinFuture Prize system consists of 4 categories. Of which, the main prize worth more than 76 billion VND, equivalent to 3 million USD, is one of the largest annual prizes ever globally. Three special prizes worth nearly 13 billion VND, equivalent to 500 thousand USD, will be awarded to female scientists, scientists from developing countries and scientists researching new fields. The VinFuture Prize Council includes prestigious scientists and inventors from educational institutions, research institutes and leading technology corporations in the world. In his opening speech at the Award Ceremony, Professor Richard Friend, Chairman of the VinFuture Prize Council, said that the award-winning works have had a profound impact on global development. They are the crystallization of humanity's tireless efforts. At the same time, these discoveries are also a reminder that no matter how much humans understand about the physical world, there are still countless mysteries waiting for us to explore. The further we go with new tools and ideas, the more the natural world continues to bring us surprises and new opportunities.

In 2021, the group of the first VinFuture Main Prize winners, Dr. Katalin Karikó and Professor Drew Weissman, were awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Their groundbreaking work on mRNA modification and control in the early 2000s helped develop a vaccine against Covid, promising to be the foundation for the development of many new treatments.
