At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), the closing price was VND98.2-100.2 million/tael (buy - sell). Compared to the previous session, the price increased by VND800,000/tael for buying and jumped to VND1.3 million/tael for selling, pushing the buying-selling difference to stabilize at VND2 million/tael.

The retail price of DOJI gold bars is currently listed at VND98.2 million/tael (buy) and VND100.2 million/tael (sell), an increase of VND800,000/tael for buying and VND1.3 million/tael for selling, compared to the close of the previous trading session.

Bao Tin Minh Chau gold price is currently buying at 98.3 million VND/tael and selling at 100.2 million VND/tael, an increase of 800,000 VND/tael for buying and 1.3 million VND/tael for selling, compared to the previous session.

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the buying price of SJC gold is 98 million VND/tael and the selling price is 99.7 million VND/tael. Thus, compared to the previous session, the gold price decreased by 200,000 VND/tael in both selling and buying prices.

World gold price today March 29, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4am today, Vietnam time, was 3,083.44 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 1.12% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,875 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 96.1 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 1.3 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices have surged to a record high, as investors flocked to the safe-haven asset amid fears of a global trade war sparked by US President Donald Trump's latest tariffs, Reuters reported.

Spot gold rose 0.9% to $3,082.39 an ounce by 11:38 a.m. ET (1538 GMT) after hitting its 18th record high this year at $3,086.70 earlier in the session. The precious metal has gained 2% for the week and is on track for a fourth straight weekly gain. U.S. gold futures rose 0.9% to $3,088.90.

“Safe-haven demand continues to rise as concerns about rising tariffs, trade and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty are supporting gold,” said Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals.

Gold, traditionally seen as a hedge against economic and political instability, tends to thrive in low interest rate environments.

The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 0.4% in February, compared with analysts' expectations for a 0.3% increase, similar to January's gain. Grant added that the data is unlikely to change rate cut expectations much, as it was only slightly higher than expected.

The Federal Reserve (Fed) has kept interest rates unchanged so far this year after three rate cuts through 2024, but has hinted at the possibility of a half-percentage-point rate cut later this year.

The market is currently pricing in a 63 basis point Fed rate cut by the end of the year, starting in July. The market is now bracing for Trump’s tit-for-tat tariff plan, which he is expected to announce on April 2.

Trump's policies are seen as inflationary, posing risks to economic growth and increasing trade tensions, analysts say.

Spot silver fell 0.6% to $34.21 an ounce, platinum fell 0.3% to $983.35 and palladium fell 0.2% to $973.25. All three precious metals were on track for weekly gains.
