Two books published by the Truth National Political Publishing House on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Truth National Political Publishing House.

This is the third time that the Truth National Political Publishing House has published the book “Letter to the South” by General Secretary Le Duan. The book includes a number of letters and telegrams from comrade Le Duan to leaders in the southern battlefields during the resistance war against the US to save the country from 1961 to 1975. These are strategic instructions of decisive significance to the cause of fighting to liberate the South, demonstrating the sharp thinking, strategic vision and steadfastness of our Party in the resistance war against the US.
The book deeply reflects the offensive ideology of the Vietnamese revolution, especially the strategy of combining political struggle and armed struggle according to the motto of “two legs”, “three prongs”, “three regions”, creating a total battle to defeat the enemy. These letters are not only important historical documents but also valuable lessons about indomitable will, solidarity and patriotism, inspiring the young generation in the current period.
The book “The Final Minutes at the White House: The Fall of the Republic of Vietnam” is a collection of declassified US documents, recording top secret meetings at the White House chaired by President Gerald Ford, along with memos and internal reports on the situation in Vietnam during the final days of the Saigon government.
The book consists of two parts. Part I reveals the calculations and plans of the US government at the moment of collapse, from dealing with the war situation to the decision to withdraw troops and evacuate Saigon. These are original top secret documents, first deciphered in 2015, providing a true perspective on the confusion and humiliating defeat of the US authorities in the face of the stormy offensive power of our army and people.
Part II compiles articles and memoirs of American generals who directly participated in the escape from Saigon. Through these memories, readers can feel the chaotic and desperate atmosphere of the Republic of Vietnam government in its final days, as well as the Americans' astonishment at the irreversible defeat.
These documents are strong evidence, contributing to clarifying the historical truth: The victory of our army and people was inevitable, a great heroic epic of the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era.
These two publications help readers gain a deeper understanding of the resistance war against the US to save the country; at the same time, they help protect the truth, fight against distorted arguments about the Vietnam War, contribute to fostering national pride, and educate patriotism for future generations.
