On the morning of August 30, the People's Committee of Nha Be District (Ho Chi Minh City) organized the opening of the construction of a bridge over Cay Kho Canal. The project, put into operation, helps shorten the travel distance for people in the area by nearly 10 km.
Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the bridge over Cay Kho canal.
The Cay Kho Bridge project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport in December 2015, with a total investment of more than VND500 billion from the city budget; of which, construction costs are more than VND306 billion; compensation costs for site clearance are more than VND114 billion and other costs.
The scale of the project is to build a new reinforced concrete bridge across Cay Kho canal, 485 m long, including 11 spans, 12.5 m wide with 2 lanes for cars and 2 lanes for non-motorized vehicles. The project also builds approach roads at both ends of the bridge 292 m long, 12.5 m wide and residential roads on both sides of the bridge 540 m long with a lighting system on the bridge.
People officially travel through Cay Kho bridge from the morning of August 30, 2024.
The project started in late 2016, but due to problems with site clearance, it has only now been completed, helping to connect Nhon Duc - Phuoc Loc Road (Nguyen Binh Road) with Pham Hung Road (extended Chanh Hung Road). Previously, people traveled through this area by ferry or took a detour of about 10 km.
Chairman of Nha Be District People's Committee Trieu Do Hong Phuoc said that this is a key project, of great significance to Nha Be District and is the longest bridge in the district. The project connects Nguyen Binh Street (Nha Be District) with Pham Hung Street (Binh Chanh District), helping to shorten the distance from more than 10 km due to having to take a detour to 500m. People here also no longer have to suffer the situation of "having to rely on a ferry to cross the river" as in the past.

Cay Kho Bridge also helps reduce traffic pressure on Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Huu Tho streets, making it easier to travel between Nguyen Van Linh Street and Hiep Phuoc Port Industrial Park. This project also strengthens the connection between Nha Be District, District 7 and Binh Chanh District, creating conditions for Phuoc Loc Commune to become a new growth engine of Nha Be District.
