Starting from the 2024-2025 school year, students studying at non-public primary schools in 121 wards, communes and towns without enough public schools in Ho Chi Minh City will receive tuition support of 30,000-60,000 VND/student/month.
Accordingly, for wards that do not have enough public primary schools in Thu Duc City and districts 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan, students will be supported with 60,000 VND/student/month.
In 4 districts including Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi and Nha Be, the support level for communes and towns that do not have enough public schools is 30,000 VND/student/month.
The above support levels are equivalent to the primary school tuition fees approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in July 2024. This is the basis for budget expenditure to support students at non-public schools.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires principals of primary schools and general schools with many levels of education (including primary school) of private type to be responsible for implementing, disseminating, completing procedures and making payments to the correct subjects receiving tuition support, and at the same time be responsible for making settlement records and sending them to the Department of Education and Training where the students reside according to regulations, encouraging implementation by bank transfer.
Previously, at the end of August 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved a list of 121 communes, wards and towns that do not have enough public primary schools.
The whole city has 6 districts without communes, wards and towns without enough public primary schools: districts 1, 3, 4, 5, Phu Nhuan and Can Gio district.
In the public school system, primary school students are exempt from tuition fees.
