Through the documents for approval of the policy of converting forest use purposes to implement 8 projects

This afternoon, June 14, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong, Chairman of the Provincial Forest Use Change Appraisal Council chaired a meeting to appraise the content of the proposal for approval of the policy of changing the purpose of forest use to other purposes to implement 8 projects in the province.

At the meeting, the representative of the consulting unit presented a report on the proposal to decide on the policy of changing the purpose of forest use to implement 8 projects, including: Hai Le Industrial Cluster Infrastructure Project (phase 2) invested by the Project Management Board, Land Fund Development, Industrial Cluster and Public Services of Quang Tri town; Cam Hieu Industrial Cluster Technical Infrastructure Construction Investment Project (leveling industrial land for lots: CN1.8 and CN1.12; lots CN6.2 and CN6.3; lots CN6.7 and CN6.8) invested by the Project Management Board, Land Fund Development and Cam Lo Industrial Cluster; Hill Clay Mining Project in Ho Lay area, Hai Chanh commune, Hai Lang district (phase 1) invested by Ha Long High-class Ceramics Joint Stock Company.

The Vinh Tu closed high-tech livestock farm project is invested by Thai Duy Vietnam Co., Ltd.; the project of mining and processing stone for common construction materials and soil for accompanying filling materials in Huong Hiep commune, Dakrong district is invested by Hai Le Quang Tri Joint Stock Company; the Ba Ngay - A Du inter-village road project, Ta Long commune, Dakrong district is invested by the Project Management Board, Land Fund Development and Industrial Cluster of Dakrong district.

Cam Hieu Industrial Cluster Technical Infrastructure Construction Investment Project (leveling industrial land for lots CN7.3) invested by the Project Management Board, Land Fund Development and Cam Lo Industrial Cluster; Compensation and support project for site clearance of Gio Quang cemetery, part of the Site Clearance Project for Quang Tri Airport Construction (phase 1) invested by Gio Linh District People's Committee.

After reviewing the documents and conducting discussions, the members of the appraisal council analyzed and gave specific opinions on each project. Many opinions noted that investors should promptly complete the environmental impact report; have a plan for reforestation to ensure the requirements set out from the planning stage to planting, care, management and protection; and at the same time, suggested editing to clarify the names of some projects.

The appraisal council also voted and unanimously approved the proposal to convert forest use to other purposes to implement the above 8 projects.

Concluding the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong requested that the consulting unit and investor review the names of the projects, ensuring logical and concise wording.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is assigned to urge investors to pay for replacement forest planting according to regulations; at the same time, advise on reviewing the replacement forest planting plan to ensure the forest coverage rate in the province.

Although after appraisal, all 8 projects are in accordance with the approved land use plans of the localities, the investors must continue to actively coordinate with the consulting unit and departments, branches and localities to soon complete the environmental impact report to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration before taking the next steps.
