DAT equipment helps improve the quality of driver training

Báo Giao thôngBáo Giao thông23/11/2024

The Distance and Time Monitoring (DAT) device helps students learn enough time and kilometers of driving on the road, thereby improving driving skills and contributing to ensuring traffic safety.

Get enough time and practice

Having just completed the driving course and preparing to take the test to obtain a B2 driver's license, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu (Dong Da, Hanoi) said that he is very satisfied with the DAT software because this modern technology helps him practice driving for enough time and kilometers on the road according to regulations, thereby improving his driving experience to confidently handle situations when participating in traffic on the road.

DAT device is installed on the driving practice car.

Circular 04/2022 of the Ministry of Transport stipulates that the average number of students on a B2 driving practice vehicle is 5 people, the total number of hours of driving practice on a B2 driving practice vehicle is 420 hours and the corresponding number of hours for a student is 84 hours. Thus, during the course, each student must ensure that they study 84 hours and 1,100 km of driving practice.

The installation of DAT equipment is a mandatory regulation in QCVN 105:2020/BGTVT issued with Circular 37/2020 of the Ministry of Transport. The installation of DAT equipment not only helps authorities easily manage and monitor but also effectively prevents fraud during car driving practice.

Each student participating in the driving practice on the road is given a card with a code to swipe the card at the touch reader on the car and displayed on the Tablet interface screen to authenticate personal information, and the camera automatically takes pictures every 5 minutes while driving on the road.

The DAT system automatically updates and transmits images and data information promptly and accurately to the Vietnam Road Administration and the Department of Transport to closely manage and monitor the time and distance that students study for each class; must ensure the correct number of kilometers and driving time to be eligible to enter the driving license exam.

Mr. Luong Duyen Thong, Head of the Department of Vehicle and Driver Transport Management, Vietnam Road Administration, said that the quality of car driving training and testing has been improved, however, at some training facilities, there is an agreement with students to reduce the time and number of kilometers of driving lessons on the road.

Because learners are not aware that learning is for their own safety, they do not want to study but still want to have a driver's license. In fact, many learners have not studied enough 84 hours or 1,100 km as prescribed. With current conditions in Vietnam, it is still mandatory to tighten and improve the quality of training.

Previously, information about the time and number of kilometers students drove on the road was reported by the training facility. The Departments checked the reports and decided to allow them to take the test. Circular 04/2022 amending Circular 12/2017 of the Ministry of Transport stipulates that from June 15, car driving training facilities must transmit data to monitor the time and number of kilometers of students learning to drive on the road to the Vietnam Road Administration. Departments of Transport will use this data to approve the list of students eligible to take the test. Students who have not studied for the required time and number of kilometers will not be allowed to take the test to be granted a driving license.

Improve training quality

The director of a driving training and testing center in Hai Duong said that the unit has seriously implemented, ensuring that students practice driving for the minimum time and distance as prescribed. At the same time, it closely monitors each session, strictly prohibiting all cases of cheating during the DAT process. The center has included in its regulations that students who do not have enough time and distance to practice driving on the road will not be allowed to take the graduation exam.

"Using DAT devices to monitor drivers on the road is very practical. Practicing driving on the road for the required amount of time and kilometers helps students master driving skills and confidently handle situations that occur on the road. In addition, DAT devices also help driving training facilities control teaching activities in accordance with the training plan and manage vehicle usage," said the leader of this center.

According to Mr. Luong Duyen Thong, after more than 1 year of applying DAT equipment, it has brought about clear results. Increasing the application of technology helps to monitor the training process more closely, paying special attention to monitoring the study of traffic laws and using technology equipment to monitor the driver's practice time, ensuring the monitoring of the driving practice time on the road of about 40 hours and 800 km of actual 84 hours or over 1,000 km as prescribed. These will be the basic contents to improve the quality of training.

From 2022 to present, the Vietnam Road Administration has applied many technological solutions to strictly manage and improve the quality of driver training and testing such as applying technology in driver training and testing: Firstly, monitoring the time and distance of students' learning. Secondly, testing on software that simulates traffic situations. Thirdly, training facilities install driving practice cabins. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of driver training and testing.
