Kinhtedothi - The joy was doubled for the Party Committee, government and people of Son Tay town at the ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the town's establishment and the 555th anniversary of the name "Son Tay" when it was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the Party and State.
Worthy of the title "land of talented people"
On the evening of November 10, at the walking street of Son Tay Ancient Citadel, a solemn ceremony took place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Son Tay town (1924 - 2024), the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Son Tay (1954 - 2024) and the 555th anniversary of the name "Son Tay" (1469 - 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai; President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Pham Tat Thang; First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Bui Quang Huy; Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan..., along with many delegates who are leaders of central agencies and units, Hanoi City, and Son Tay town.
In particular, the ceremony was honored to welcome delegates who were former leaders of Hanoi city, Ha Tay province and Son Tay town through the periods, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and a large number of people of the town.
Speaking at the ceremony, Son Tay City Party Secretary Tran Anh Tuan said that Son Tay (also known as Doai town or Doai region) was originally one of the "four towns" protecting the ancient Thang Long citadel. This was originally a land of "spiritual land and talented people", the only place in the country where "one hamlet gave birth to two kings" with Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung and Tien Ngo Vuong Ngo Quyen. In addition, this was also the birthplace of many other famous and talented people.
The name “Son Tay” was officially established in 1469 as an administrative unit under the Central Government. To date, the name “Son Tay” has existed for 555 years. On December 30, 1924, Son Tay town was established, which is now 100 years old. Having undergone many changes, expansions, and administrative divisions, Son Tay has always been a strategically important location in terms of economy, society, politics, and military of the country and the Capital.
Through the process of construction and development, Son Tay town has achieved many proud achievements. In 2020, Son Tay town was recognized by the Government as meeting new rural standards; the economy has grown quite well, tourism has been well exploited, including the product "Experience traditional Northern cuisine at Duong Lam ancient village" which received the ASEAN sustainable tourism product award in 2024; the appearance of urban and rural areas has improved a lot, social security work has been well implemented, the town has no poor households; Party building and political system building have been consolidated, the great solidarity of the people has been strengthened...
With their contributions in the resistance wars and the renovation process, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Son Tay town and two communes in the town were honored to be awarded the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; the town was honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit, work and encourage 10 times; the Party Committee, government and people of the town were awarded the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals, the Third Class Independence Medal and were commended many times by the Central and the city.
5 key tasks
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh praised the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of the town, and at the same time requested the town to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity and creativity, and well performing the 5 key tasks.
Firstly, continue to strengthen the building and rectification of the Party and the political system to be clean, strong, streamlined, effective and efficient; gradually improve the management and operation capacity of the government system at all levels, striving to successfully complete the Resolution of the Town Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
Along with that, focus on thoroughly grasping and directing the effective implementation of Directive No. 35 dated June 14, 2024 of the Politburo on Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; at the same time, pay attention to effectively implementing Directive No. 24 dated August 7, 2023 of the City Party Committee on "Strengthening discipline and responsibility in handling work in the political system of Hanoi City".
Second, thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the amended Law on the Capital, the Hanoi Capital Planning and the Project on Adjusting the Hanoi Capital Master Plan. Proactively coordinate with the city's departments, branches and sectors to adjust the regional and zoning plans of the town to ensure conformity and maximize local resources, creating a premise for building Son Tay to develop rapidly and sustainably, becoming the growth pole in the West of Hanoi Capital.
On this occasion, the Party Committee - Government - People - Armed Forces of Son Tay town were honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the Party and State; the Hanoi Party Committee presented a banner with the content: "Promoting the historical - cultural, heroic - revolutionary, solidarity - democracy - discipline - creativity traditions to build a sustainable, civilized and modern town".
Third, Son Tay town needs to effectively exploit comparative advantages, unleash resources to promote socio-economic development; create a favorable, safe, and attractive environment to attract investment; develop trade, tourism, and high-quality services. In particular, prioritize the development of cultural industry in the spirit of Resolution No. 09 dated February 22, 2022 of the Hanoi Party Committee, in order to promote the unique values of the center of "Xu Doai Culture", of the ancient town, the historical and cultural city, along with the tangible and intangible cultural heritages, and the rich and diverse landscapes of the locality.
Fourth, closely combine economic development with good implementation of social security policies, ensure progress and fairness, create harmonious and sustainable development, improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Pay attention to and take care of policy families and people with meritorious services. Improve the quality of education - training, health care, and people's health care. Develop high-quality human resources, associated with promoting scientific research, technology application, innovation; build elegant, civilized, and modern Son Tay people.
Fifth, strengthen national defense and security; build a truly solid people's position right from the grassroots; ensure political security, order and social safety; proactively prevent and fight to defeat all plots and sabotage activities of hostile forces, absolutely not allowing the formation or emergence of "hot spots", creating a stable environment to promote socio-economic development of the locality and the capital.
Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, the Party Committee, government and people of Son Tay have donated 3.7 billion VND along with many material and spiritual items to the people of the provinces and cities affected by the recent storm No. 3 and floods. In the spirit of solidarity and sharing, at the event, artists, singers, actors, organizers and businesses of the town continued to donate 200 million VND to the people of the Central provinces to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
