This is the second high school with a scale of over 100 billion VND that VPBank has sponsored in Long An, and is also the first public school in Vietnam to receive the EDGE Green Building certificate issued by the International Finance Corporation IFC.
Attending the inauguration ceremony were former Politburo member, former President Truong Tan Sang, former Politburo member, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, representatives of Central Departments and leaders of Long An Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) and many teachers and students of the school.
The inauguration and opening ceremony of Vo Van Tan School was attended by former President Truong Tan Sang.
Built on an area of over 3.1 hectares, Vo Van Tan High School has 28 classrooms, 9 subject rooms, 17 functional rooms and other auxiliary facilities such as a football field, parking lot, athletics track, etc., meeting the learning needs of more than 2,000 local students. The school started construction in October 2023 and was completed after nearly 11 months of construction with a total investment of VND 100 billion sponsored by VPBank.
The spacious, modern school is named after soldier Vo Van Tan.
Not only is it a national standard school with a development orientation following the high-quality school model of Long An province, Vo Van Tan High School is also one of the first public schools in Vietnam to receive a certificate. EDGE Green Building is certified by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification is a system for evaluating buildings based on criteria for efficient use of resources in design, helping to save energy, water and energy used to produce building materials, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve EDGE certification, buildings must meet extremely strict criteria for energy savings, water savings and reduction of embodied energy in materials (ie energy used throughout the life cycle from production to disposal of materials).
Designed and constructed by a team of leading engineers and architects with the goal of creating a long-term sustainable learning environment, Vo Van Tan High School is fully equipped with the necessary elements to help generations of students get closer to the green transformation trend of the future. Specifically, the paint covering the school's surfaces is a type of paint that reflects solar radiation, helping to prevent heat from sunlight, increase the life of the building as well as minimize the impact of the urban heat island effect.
All classroom glass doors are also coated with Solar Control to reduce the solar heat gain coefficient and thermal conductivity of the glass, while reducing solar radiation transmitted into the interior space and increasing the efficiency of daylight. Lighting and sanitary equipment are also optimally selected to save energy and water. Even the plants are carefully selected with native species to minimize the use of water for irrigation and promote biodiversity. In addition, the project uses components and materials with low embodied carbon content, contributing to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment.
Vo Van Tan High School is the first public school in Vietnam to receive EDGE Green Building certification.
With a strict design orientation and optimal construction in accordance with international Green standards, Vo Van Tan High School has recorded a reduction in energy consumption of 47%, water savings of 37% and a reduction in energy embodied in materials of up to 57%. With these indicators, the school has been confirmed to have achieved the EDGE ADVANCED certification level - the second highest certification level of EDGE, after the highest level of EDGE ZERO CARBON.
Speaking at the school inauguration ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Nhung - member of the Board of Directors, Permanent Deputy General Director of VPBank - shared that the enterprise is very honored and proud to continue to contribute to the socio-economic development of Long An province, contributing to creating a high-quality learning environment for the future generations of the locality, an international standard green building.

Vo Van Tan High School is the second large-scale high-quality school sponsored by VPBank in Long An province. Previously, on the occasion of the opening of the 2023-2024 school year, Nguyen Trung Truc - Ben Luc High School with a total investment of 150 billion VND sponsored by VPBank was also inaugurated and handed over to Ben Luc district.
Along with sponsoring the construction of schools in Long An, VPBank has also used many resources to support the repair and construction of more than 50 schools in mountainous areas across the country, bringing the total amount of sponsorship for social security activities of enterprises across the country to nearly 1,800 billion VND.
Vo Van Tan High School has a total investment capital of 100 billion VND sponsored by VPBank.
