On May 22, information from the Department of Education and Training of Buon Don district, Dak Lak province said that this unit requested Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Primary School to report the case of teacher VHL (33 years old, teacher) who beat his wife, causing injury. The victim was Ms. N. (27 years old), also a teacher at a kindergarten in the area.
Previously, Ms. N's family received information that she had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment because her husband beat her, so the female teacher's father reported the incident to the authorities.
Teacher N. was beaten by her husband and had to be hospitalized.
At Buon Don District Medical Center, Ms. N. was diagnosed with multiple injuries due to being beaten, conjunctival hemorrhage, many wounds on her forehead, eyebrows, eyelids, swollen eye sockets, a swollen mass on the top of her head, and bruised lips. Worried that her daughter had a dangerous head injury, her family requested to transfer the patient to the Central Highlands General Hospital for treatment.
According to information from Ms. N.’s father, after a week of being beaten, his daughter still had headaches and felt dizzy. The family was very worried and upset when their son-in-law did not come to visit or ask about her.
A few days after the incident, Mr. L. also sent a report to the Board of Directors of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Primary School.
According to Mr. L., during the time they lived together, there were frequent conflicts between the couple over child care and taking the children to and from school. Mr. L. was responsible for almost all of the children's expenses, living expenses, and tuition fees. Mr. L. also said that his wife often left early and came home late for many consecutive days.
For the above reasons, Mr. L. has repeatedly requested to file a divorce petition in court, but his wife refused to sign.
In the report, Mr. L. also stated that the conflict that led to him beating his wife also stemmed from living expenses. “I myself am aware that what I did was wrong and that I must take responsibility before the law, but because of the above reasons, I did that. I respectfully request that the School Board and relevant levels and sectors consider the cause of the incident as I have presented above,” Mr. L. reported.
