Vietnam team has a dream start in Asian Cup qualifying round after defeating Laos

On the evening of March 25, the Vietnamese team entered the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup by hosting Laos at Binh Duong Stadium. With superior class and home field advantage, the red team did not take long to control the match.

In the 11th minute, Truong Tien Anh escaped on the right wing and crossed into the penalty area. Although defender Sonevilay guessed his intention and rushed back to support the defense, his clearance accidentally became a pass for Chau Ngoc Quang to score the opening goal of the match.

Conceding an early goal, Laos began to fight back and created some good chances but failed to capitalize.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team, despite playing quite leisurely, still scored another goal before the end of the first half. In the 44th minute, after Hai Long's shot hit the crossbar, the ball bounced off and found Van Vi. The star player of Nam Dinh Club immediately made a tricky header, raising the score to 2-0 for the Vietnamese team.

In the second half, the Vietnamese team still controlled the match completely and put great pressure on Laos. In the 50th minute, Van Vi proactively approached and took the ball from the Lao player's feet and then decisively shot past goalkeeper Lokpathip. In the 63rd minute, Hai Long put his name on the scoreboard after a tricky shot from outside the penalty area.

Leading by 4 goals, coach Kim Sang-sik started to gradually withdraw key players with the goal of preserving his strength. However, the red team still proved to be too superior to Laos. In the 84th minute, after a good exchange with Hoang Duc, Quang Hai escaped and volleyed the ball into the Laos net, raising the score to 5-0.

In the remaining time, both teams actively slowed down the pace and neither side scored any more goals. In the end, the Vietnamese team won easily 5-0 against Laos in the opening match of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
