Visit An Lang, the resting place of 3 Nguyen Dynasty kings after 6 years of restoration

After more than 6 years of restoration, An Lang relic, the resting place of three kings Duc Duc, Thanh Thai and Duy Tan, has opened to visitors for free.

In early August 2024, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center officially opened An Lang relic to visitors after more than 6 years of restoration.

An Lang relic is located on Duy Tan street (An Cuu ward, Hue city), is the resting place of three kings of the Nguyen dynasty: Duc Duc, Thanh Thai and Duy Tan. An Lang has an area of nearly 6 hectares, built by King Thanh Thai in 1899 to worship his father, King Duc Duc. In 1954, King Thanh Thai passed away and was brought to An Lang to be buried with his father. In 1945, King Duy Tan passed away, in 1987, his remains were brought from France to be buried in An Lang with his father (King Thanh Thai) and grandfather (King Duc Duc).

Through the ups and downs of history, this relic has been degraded and at risk of being abandoned. In 2017, the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province issued a decision approving the project to preserve, restore and renovate this relic, including the palace and tomb areas with a budget of more than 40 billion VND. By 2018, the restoration project was implemented. Currently, the project has restored items such as Long An Palace (where the three Nguyen kings are worshiped) and the tomb of King Duc Duc.

Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said that An Lang will initially be opened to welcome visitors for free. This is to collect opinions and measure the number of visitors to submit to the Provincial People's Council to set appropriate ticket prices.
