"PVF-CAND Club believes that under the leadership of coach Thach Bao Khanh, the team will continue to maintain its spirit of fighting with all its might, bringing impressive performances to fans as well as striving to complete its goals," the first-class team announced the same afternoon.
Coach Thach Bao Khanh officially replaced Mauro Jeronimo to lead PVF-CAND in the second leg of the 2024 - 2025 National First Division.
Previously, head coach Mauro was fired in round 12, after the PVF-CAND Club's unsatisfactory performance. At that time, PVF-CAND was ranked third on the rankings with 21 points, 3 points behind the second-placed team Binh Phuoc (the position to play in the promotion play-off).
Coach Thach Bao Khanh was born in 1979, from Hanoi, and was a Vietnamese player who won the runner-up position at the 2004 AFF Cup. After retiring, Bao Khanh worked in the youth teams of Viettel until 2021, before leading the People's Public Security Club (now Hanoi Public Security) to promotion to the V-League in 2023. Coach Bao Khanh's peak was leading the first team of The Cong - Viettel to compete in the V-League in the 2023 - 2024 season, before leaving the position early last year.
PVF-CAND Club is the next team in the First Division to change coach, after Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc. Previously, Binh Phuoc said goodbye to head coach Nguyen Anh Duc and has now appointed Huynh Quoc Anh as interim coach.
PVF-CAND has twice missed out on promotion to the V-League, after losing to Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh in the play-off matches in 2023 and 2024.
This season, the team continues to aim for promotion despite being challenged by emerging forces such as Phu Dong Ninh Binh and Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc.
