Most recently, in Singapore, despite some health problems, "country princess" Taylor Swift still did not disappoint the audience when she performed for 3 hours continuously for many days. What is the secret that helps Swift have the stamina and energy for such huge music shows?
In her most recent interview as Time magazine's Person of the Year 2023, Swift shared how she prepares her stamina to meet the demands of touring.
Taylor Swift runs and lifts weights to build endurance
Six months before her first show, Swift started running. "Every day I'd run on the treadmill, singing my entire playlist out loud. I'd run fast to the fast songs, and run or walk fast to the slow songs," she shared.
Taylor Swift also adjusted her diet, in addition to exercising, such as strength training and weight lifting. To ensure that she could perform her dance moves smoothly throughout the show, the singer even spent three months learning to dance, hoping that the moves would "seep into her bones", giving the audience the best experience.
Recovery: Absolute Rest
Between tour stops, Taylor Swift takes 24 hours to rest and recharge. "I don't get out of bed except to get takeout and eat in bed," she explained to Time . "I can barely speak because I've been singing for three shows in a row. Every time I take a step, my feet are crunching from dancing in heels."
Swift knows the importance of taking time to do nothing. "I know I'm going to go on stage whether I'm sick, injured, heartbroken, upset, or stressed. We all deserve a break, whether it's from practice or the hustle and bustle of our daily lives."
Take a breather. You can also allow yourself a day to lie in bed like Taylor Swift, take a walk around the block, or give yourself a relaxing body massage.

Healthy diet, no alcohol
Unlike other stars who follow strict diets, where sudden weight gain or loss can be harmful to their health in the long run, Taylor Swift takes a balanced approach to her diet. She chooses healthy meals during the week, and allows herself to indulge in her favorite foods on the weekends.
To prepare her health and voice for "The Eras Tour", Taylor Swift said no to alcohol. She stopped drinking a few months before the show.
In general, the singer doesn't force herself to give up her favorite foods, like pastries. "I try to keep it light, but nothing too crazy," Taylor Swift says. "I don't want to create too many rules that I don't need."
Always carry water with you
Taylor Swift knows that water is good for you. The American singer revealed in an interview with Bon Appétit in 2012: "I keep a lot of water in my dressing room. I drink about 10 bottles of water a day. I drink so much water that my friends call me an alien."
She never leaves home without a bottle of water, and even keeps water in her car just in case.
While you don’t need to guzzle 10 bottles of water a day like Taylor Swift, you should still drink about 11.5 cups, or 2.7 liters, of water a day. When we have enough water in our bodies, our cardiovascular, digestive, and immune systems function more efficiently. Start with a glass of water in the morning, and your skin will be better in no time.
Mental Care: Journaling and Being Honest About Your Feelings
"Health is a big part of happiness," Taylor Swift once shared. According to her, that means being in good physical and mental condition.
As someone who loves to keep a diary, Swift would always think to herself, "It's okay, I can write about this after school whenever I feel sad."
"When I was younger, I learned to process my emotions through writing," she says. Taylor Swift says putting pen to paper has many benefits, including reducing stress, creating space to release negative thoughts, and exploring herself more deeply.
Swift also uses her songwriting and musical talents to feel all of her emotions. With any emotion, whether it's hurt, rejection, sadness or loneliness, joy or happiness, the singer asks herself, "Can I write a song about this?"
Like Taylor Swift, consider journaling as your own therapy session, an effective way to process your emotions.

Self Care: Make Everywhere Your Home
On tour, sitting in a car for hours, giving it her all on stage, and not being able to sleep in her familiar comfortable bed at home can leave Taylor Swift feeling exhausted.
The key to staying balanced and overcoming her discomfort is to always have a few essentials with her and to develop a comfort routine, including a mental one. Taylor Swift's first job upon entering her hotel room is to unpack her luggage.
“I do that everywhere I go. I really like the feeling of putting my clothes in a drawer and putting my shoes in a closet,” Swift says. It makes her feel like she's in a familiar place, which makes her more comfortable.
The singer also always carries candles, and even brings her cat on tour. All these little things help Taylor Swift cultivate positive emotions and maintain energy for her performances.
