Spain has 44 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City

TPO - On April 10, at the Reunification Hall, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc received Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who is on a working visit to Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, Spain has 44 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City with a total registered capital of more than 16 million USD.

Welcoming the visit and working session in Ho Chi Minh City of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that Vietnam and Spain have had a trade relationship for 5 centuries and after nearly 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and more than 15 years of establishing the framework of "Strategic Partnership towards the future", the relationship between Vietnam and Spain has achieved positive progress in many fields.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders congratulated the Spanish Prime Minister on his successful working sessions with Vietnamese leaders and the signing of many important agreements on bilateral cooperation between the two countries in many fields; expressed confidence that the visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and the Spanish high-ranking delegation to Vietnam this time will create a new impetus to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Spanish partners, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that Spain currently has 44 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City with a total registered capital of more than 16 million USD; bilateral trade turnover of more than 400 million USD shows the good relationship between the city and Spanish partners, but is still modest compared to the great potential of both sides.

Sharing the city's development orientation, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that Ho Chi Minh City is a young, dynamic city, in the process of strong development in many fields, so it is in great need of cooperation from foreign partners, including Spanish enterprises. Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciates the capacity and experience of Spanish enterprises and wishes to promote cooperation with Spain in the fields of transport infrastructure, tourism, digital transformation, seaport development, clean energy and people-to-people exchange, etc.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders believe that Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s visit to Ho Chi Minh City will open up good opportunities for effective cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Spain with specific projects in potential fields. Ho Chi Minh City is committed to creating the best conditions for businesses of both sides to cooperate long-term and effectively, promoting the Vietnam - Spain strategic partnership to grow further.

Thanking the warm welcome of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez congratulated Vietnam on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975 - 2025).

According to Mr. Pedro Sanchez, Vietnam and Spain are among the countries with the most dynamically developing economies in the world and have complementary factors. Spain is the first European country to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and actively expands trade cooperation with ASEAN countries, especially with Vietnam.

Spanish businesses wish to contribute to the strong development of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, especially in areas where Spanish businesses have strengths and experience. On this occasion, the Spanish Prime Minister thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for supporting the successful organization of the Vietnam - Spain Business Forum as well as for their attention to creating favorable conditions for Spanish businesses operating in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Pedro Sanchez said that some areas of development interest in Ho Chi Minh City are also strengths of Spanish enterprises such as transport infrastructure development, seaport development, renewable energy, urban water management and agriculture...
