Quang Nam currently has a total of 295 industrial projects with a total investment capital of about 93,303 billion VND, attracting 61,000 production workers. Most of the enterprises operate stably and contribute greatly to the budget and socio-economic development of the province.

Quang Nam has currently attracted 379 projects registered to invest in 53 industrial clusters (ICs) with a total leased and registered land area of 722.33 hectares, a total registered investment capital of VND 15,872.06 billion, and a total workforce of 67,830 people. 39/53 ICs in operation have an occupancy rate of 50% or more.

Thanh Ha Industrial Park has 68 establishments including carpentry, mechanics and lanterns with an area of 30.3 hectares to protect the environment; the occupancy rate of Thanh Ha Industrial Park is 53%.

However, up to now, Quang Nam has only 5 industrial parks with centralized wastewater treatment areas that have been put into operation but are not operating at full capacity. The rate of operating industrial parks with centralized wastewater treatment areas is only 9.3%.

New momentum

In addition to the achieved results, Quang Nam industrial development still has limitations. In the process of implementing the pilot project on the mechanism to encourage cooperation and linkage in production according to clusters of supporting industries and mechanical industries in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, many obstacles and difficulties were encountered.

The plan to implement the provincial planning for the industrial sector has not yet been approved by the Prime Minister, so some projects have not been implemented, causing delays and obstacles in attracting investment. Industrial infrastructure in mountainous areas has not been properly invested in, is fragmented and small, and has not attracted many investment projects.

Capital allocation for investment in industrial infrastructure is still lacking and slow. The infrastructure management model of industrial parks is still stuck because there is no document guiding the conversion of public assets invested by the state to enterprises for infrastructure management and business.

To resolve the difficulties, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to advise the Provincial People's Committee to work with relevant agencies and units to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the project to develop an industrial center for deep processing of silica products in Quang Nam province and implement it.

The industry and trade sector needs to review the sector's planning and integrate it into the provincial planning to have a smooth plan to carry out industrial development tasks.

At the same time, promote industrial restructuring towards modernization; develop in depth, improve productivity, added value and competitiveness of products of advantageous industries, especially the processing and manufacturing industries.

Strongly develop supporting industries, strengthen the connection between foreign-invested sectors and domestic sectors. Focus on advising on the issuance of a resolution of the People's Council of Quang Nam province on the program to support investment in technical infrastructure of industrial parks in the province for the period 2026 - 2030. The Department of Industry and Trade prepares content to specifically report to the Provincial People's Committee to resolve difficulties and problems in land management and wastewater treatment in industrial parks.

Mr. Le Vu Thuong said that, in addition to the industrial development tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, in the coming time, the unit will focus on coordinating to develop a pilot project on a mechanism to encourage cooperation and production linkage in clusters of supporting industries and mechanical industries in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

Develop a plan to implement the chemical industry development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2040. Promote investment in building infrastructure for industrial parks and industrial clusters and step up promotion and attraction of industrial development investment projects.

In particular, deploy market development solutions and disseminate rules of origin to help Quang Nam enterprises take advantage of FTAs to boost exports.
