Tanh Linh takes advantage of specialty strengths to build OCOP products

Tanh Linh District, Binh Thuan Province has taken advantage of its typical and strong agricultural products such as rice, durian, bird's nest, etc. to build valuable OCOP products.

Not only the provincial market has welcomed, currently 2 rice products (ST 25 rice, ST 25 brown rice) of Duc Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan province ) are present in the markets of provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai ... and are very popular with people. Because the above products produce high quality rice according to a closed process, VietGAP standards and have achieved 3-star OCOP since 2019. Currently, the 2 rice products of the Cooperative have scores suitable for 4-star classification, so the documents have been completed and submitted to the Provincial Council for further evaluation of appropriate classification. Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Duc Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative, said that the Cooperative currently has 60 hectares of ST25 rice production in the fields of Village 2 and Ta Ru, with a total output of 400 tons/year. To trace the origin of the products, the Cooperative cooperated with the Long An Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to source ST25 seeds , and at the same time led 22 members to change old farming practices, ensuring the health of producers and the surrounding community, meeting consumer demand for clean products.

“Thanks to the OCOP program , the Cooperative has been able to promote its strengths in rice production and continuously expand its scale, improve product quality and diversify its markets. As a result, members have a stable source of income and are very excited,” Mr. Duc said.

Similarly, taking advantage of the available raw material area in the locality, Hoang Gia Agricultural Products Import-Export Production and Trading Company Limited, Lac Tanh Town (Tanh Linh District) has researched and brought to the market quality products made from chili plants such as: dried chili, green Siamese chili soaked in vinegar and garlic, naturally fermented minced chili sauce, dried chili powder, naturally fermented fresh chili satay. In 2023, the above products of the company achieved 3-star OCOP and have now been submitted to the Provincial Council for further evaluation and recognition of 4-star OCOP. According to Ms. Nguyen Nu Hoang Gia, Director of Hoang Gia Agricultural Products Import-Export Production and Trading Company Limited, currently, the company's products are not only exported to many countries but also sold in the supermarket systems of Satra, Haidilao, Tu Son and domestic and international distribution stores. Thereby affirming the brand, value of the products and increasingly gaining the trust of consumers nationwide.

Mr. Mai Tri Man, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tanh Linh, said that in recent times, the district has actively implemented the program "One Commune One Product", aiming to increase the value of local agricultural products and specialties and promote economic development, especially for farmers and cooperatives. Up to now, the whole district has 14 OCOP products, of which 2 products are being submitted to the province for 4-star rating. In addition, 18 products are being evaluated by the locality for OCOP this December. "Currently, OCOP products such as rice, durian, bird's nest, chili... not only bring economic efficiency to the subjects but also contribute to increasing the brand value of local agricultural products and transforming from small-scale agricultural production to production in the direction of value chain linkage, according to standards, regulations, traceability and market demand", Mr. Man shared.
