In 2024, Yen Lap district organized 2 rounds of evaluation and classification of OCOP products, the whole district had 23 OCOP products, accounting for 9.7% of the total number of OCOP products in the province. In the KTTT and Cooperative areas, there were 14 OCOP products of 11 entities (6 cooperatives and 5 cooperative groups), of which 13 were 3-star OCOP products and 1 was 4-star OCOP product. Products selected to participate in OCOP must ensure conditions on quality standards, traceability of origin, and clear declaration of basic standard conditions.
My Lung sticky rice is grown organically.
Pioneering in participating in the implementation of the OCOP program, the My Lung sticky rice product of the My Lung sticky rice production and general service cooperative has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product since 2020, and by 2022 the product will be upgraded to meet the 4-star OCOP standard. In 2024, the cooperative will have an additional product called Sticky Rice Wine, which will be recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. Currently, the cooperative has 12 official members and 132 associate members, intensively cultivating sticky rice with an area of 105 hectares, the cooperative is converting 24 hectares of sticky rice to organic farming.
The My Nuong wine and My Nuong pig's feet products of the My Luong agricultural cooperative for processing agricultural products and applying traditional medicine are two products that have met the 3-star OCOP standard. Previously, the products had no packaging or labels and were only sold through familiar contacts in the district. Since the establishment of the cooperative, through training programs, capacity building, trade promotion and guidance from all levels and sectors, the cooperative has processed them into commercial products for sale on the market, associated with introducing traditional products of the Muong people here such as: Black pig, native black chicken, wild bamboo shoots... helping to increase income for members.

Along with cooperatives, cooperative groups (CGs) in the district have been operating quite effectively. Up to now, there are 5 CGs in the district with products meeting 3-star OCOP standards, including: Luong Son green tea (CG producing Luong Son tea, Luong Son commune); Phuc Co Minh Hoa sun cakes (CG producing Phuc Co Minh Hoa sun cakes, Minh Hoa commune); Ton Son gún cakes (CG producing Xuan An cakes, Xuan An commune), Ngoc Lap green tea (CG producing Ngoc Lap tea, Ngoc Lap commune) and Ngoi Xop watermelon (CG producing Ngoi Xop watermelon, Xuan Vien commune).
The cooperatives were established and put into operation mostly by Muong women who joined together to produce. A typical example is the Luong Son green tea production cooperative, an economic model that shows that ethnic minority women here have changed their thinking and working methods. With an area of over 10 hectares, in 2023, Luong Son green tea products were evaluated and met the 3-star OCOP standard. Since meeting the OCOP standard, the selling price of the product has increased by 10-15%. In addition to making tea, members also combine raising livestock and growing other products on a household scale.
Currently, 10/17 communes in the district have developed OCOP products, My Lung commune alone has 5 products that meet OCOP standards. The recognized OCOP products are all local characteristics and apply science and technology such as: Nguyen Phat Cordyceps, Cordyceps honey of Nguyen Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative; Truong Thinh tapioca starch of My Lung Green Agricultural Cooperative; Xuan Thuy grapefruit of Xuan Thuy Grapefruit Cooperative... The products all have full and clear certifications on quality standards, product origin, many products apply advanced production processes, strict requirements on quality control.
Promoting the development of OCOP products associated with promoting local specialties has increased the production value of the collective economy and cooperatives, contributing to the development of the local economy and increasing income for members. To maintain and develop sustainably, cooperatives and cooperative groups need to continue to boldly innovate production processes, invest in technology and improve product quality. At the same time, it is necessary to promote products and seek to expand markets inside and outside the province.
