Comrade Bui Thi Thom, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and delegates visited the OCOP booth of Giao Thuy district farmers' union members on the Farmers' Startup Day, applying digital transformation in 2024.
Mr. Vu Tuan Hiep, Director of Tuan Hiep Mushroom and Handicraft Cooperative, has been successful in the production and processing of mushroom products for many years. Taking advantage of the available straw resources in the locality, he invested in building a factory with an area of over 3,000m2, growing mushrooms in greenhouses and net houses according to VietGAP process, ensuring food hygiene and safety. Of which, chicken thigh mushrooms and oyster mushrooms are the two main mushroom lines of the cooperative. Thanks to the application of science and technology in production; using mist and drip irrigation models; installing humidity control devices in mushroom houses..., the mushrooms grow and develop stably, giving high productivity and good quality. On average, each year, the cooperative supplies the market with about 40 tons of various mushrooms, with a total revenue of about 2 billion VND/year. In addition to dried wood ear mushrooms, dried lingzhi mushrooms, fresh oyster mushrooms, fresh king oyster mushrooms, the cooperative also processes two instant products that are very popular with customers: mushroom spring rolls and mushroom rolls. The cooperative is creating jobs for 12 official workers and 10 seasonal workers. In particular, since the OCOP program was implemented and deployed in the province, the cooperative has actively improved its products to participate. Up to now, the cooperative owns 6 provincial-level OCOP products, 3-star rating including: Tuan Hiep white oyster mushrooms, Tuan Hiep brown oyster mushrooms, Xuan Thuy lingzhi mushrooms, Tuan Hiep shredded wood ear mushrooms, Tuan Hiep mushroom spring rolls, Tuan Hiep mushroom rolls.
In Giao Lac commune, Mr. Tran Huu Chung, Director of Truong Xuan Agricultural Cooperative, has always persevered with the high-tech vegetable, fruit and root growing model following the "6 no" process: no chemical fertilizers, no chemical pesticides, no herbicides, no growth stimulants, no use of genetically modified seeds, no use of post-harvest preservatives. By complying with the safe production process, the Cooperative has produced high-quality products, built a brand, gradually formed a chain of product consumption links and expanded the market; including 2 watermelon and cantaloupe products that have achieved 3-star OCOP. In addition, there are 5 3-star OCOP products including shrimp floss, steamed shrimp buds, dried shrimp buds, tiger prawns, and Khang Tuong cut-up sea bass of Khang Tuong Cooperative in Giao An commune; Many other typical OCOP products such as: mangrove honey from Xuan Thuy National Park, traditional Sa Chau fish sauce, nem nam, Dai Thom 8 rice, sticky rice, clean salt products, refined salt, seasoning salt, dried galangal, dried shrimp, lactation cereals, nutritional cereals, cereals for pregnant mothers, shrimp floss, mantis shrimp, dried tiger prawns, mackerel, sea bass... Most of these products are processed from rich and diverse raw materials available locally, made by farmers, fishermen, salt farmers, and members of cooperatives.
Thanks to actively participating in the OCOP program, farmers' association members in Giao Thuy district have created high-quality products, increased competitiveness in the market, contributed to increasing product value and income, and created a driving force to promote the development of agricultural production in the direction of goods. By the end of 2024, the whole district had 121 products recognized as OCOP products with 3 to 4 stars. To encourage members to develop new OCOP products, farmers' association members at all levels in the district regularly advise and support members in registering to produce key products; focus on reviewing and grasping the advantageous products of each locality; encourage cooperatives, cooperative groups, and farmer households to invest in improving processes, applying advanced science and technology to production to improve productivity and product quality; at the same time, promote, introduce, and consume OCOP products at fairs, exhibitions and systems of stores selling clean and safe agricultural products and food. In 2024, the Association at all levels coordinated to organize training courses on transferring scientific and technical advances to over 3,250 members and farmers. The District Farmers' Association also coordinated with the grassroots Farmers' Association to effectively manage the Farmers' Support Fund, especially capital projects of the Central Association and the Provincial Association, ensuring capital safety and developing production with high economic efficiency. Up to now, the total amount of the Farmers' Support Fund in the district has reached over 2 billion VND; the capital entrusted by the Central Association and the Provincial Association is 2.9 billion VND, lending to 214 households to develop economic models. Priority is given to members, cooperative members, cooperative groups, branches, and professional associations to borrow capital from the Farmers' Support Fund to invest in developing production linkage models or producing key products that meet OCOP standards.
In the coming time, the Giao Thuy District Farmers' Association will continue to promote propaganda and support activities, creating favorable conditions for members to participate in the OCOP program, contributing to the implementation of the criteria on promoting production development in rural areas in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas.
