This year, Hanoi has nearly 2,600 students winning city-level 9th grade excellent student awards, an increase of about 400 compared to last year.
On March 7, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a decision to recognize excellent ninth grade students at the city level. Of the more than 3,500 candidates, nearly 2,600 won prizes, an increase of about 400 compared to last year, partly because the number of candidates this year was higher.
Cau Giay leads in the number of awards with 272 awards, including secondary school students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted - a unit under the Department. Compared to last year, the number of awards of Cau Giay district increased by 123. This is the third consecutive year that students of this district have led the city in the 9th grade excellent student exam.
The districts with more than 100 students winning prizes are Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem, Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Nam Tu Liem and Thanh Xuan, all in the inner city.
In the suburban areas, the two districts with the highest number of prizes are Dong Anh and Thanh Tri, with 97 and 86 prizes respectively. The remaining districts commonly have 50-60 prizes. Thuong Tin district has the lowest number of prizes, only 31.
The winners will receive a certificate from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. They will receive 2-5 points in the preliminary round if they register for the 10th grade specialized exam under the Department. However, this point is not valid when calculating the admission score and standard score.
Students who win first prize will be directly admitted to a number of specialized high schools affiliated with universities, such as Pedagogy and Natural Sciences.
The Hanoi City Excellent Student Competition in Culture and Science for Grade 9 students took place at the end of January. Grade 8 and 9 students from secondary schools, regardless of whether they are public or private, were eligible to participate after passing the district-level selection round.
In early February, the Department announced the candidates' test scores, giving them and their families time to request a review if needed, and then ranking them.
