The fatal shooting accident on the set of Rust in 2021 will continue to go to trial this coming November.
Prosecutors in New Mexico, where Rust was filmed, are reviewing the case. Multiple US news outlets have reported that prosecutors will reopen the case. It is likely that actor Alec Baldwin will face further manslaughter charges.

In the shooting incident that occurred on the set of Rust in 2021, actor Alec Baldwin was holding a prop gun to practice for filming. The prop gun for the scene was supposed to be loaded with fake bullets.
During Alec Baldwin's rehearsal, a bullet was fired from the barrel of the gun, a real bullet. The bullet took the life of the female director of photography Halyna Hutchins standing nearby. Regarding the latest information that has just appeared, actor Alec Baldwin's side refused to comment.
Alec Baldwin had previously faced charges of manslaughter after a shooting accident on set. At the time, the actor insisted that he was not responsible for Hutchins' tragic death and that he did not pull the trigger.
Then, in April of this year, the charges against actor Alec Baldwin were dropped, including the manslaughter charge.
The decision was made after evidence emerged that the prop gun used by the actor on set may have been tampered with in some way. This could have caused the gun to no longer function properly. It is possible that the bullet was fired without a trigger being pulled.

However, when the charges against Alec Baldwin were dropped, the prosecutor also confirmed that further research on the prop gun would be conducted. If the research shows that the gun was functioning properly and that the bullet was indeed fired after a single pull of the trigger, Alec Baldwin would still face manslaughter charges.
After further investigation of the prop gun by an independent firearms expert, a new conclusion was reached.
Accordingly, the gun still functioned properly and the bullet that caused the tragic death of Ms. Hutchins was fired from a single trigger. Previously, the inspection of the prop gun by the FBI staff also came to the same conclusion about this prop gun.
On the set of Rust , actor Alec Baldwin was both the producer and the lead actor of the film. Investigations revealed that there were serious violations of gun safety standards on the set of Rust . Both real and fake bullets were mixed together in the area where prop guns were stored.

Although not directly responsible for the guns used on set, actor Alec Baldwin violated some basic rules when filming a scene involving guns. He pointed the gun at someone and may have accidentally pulled the trigger, causing a bullet to be fired.
In fact, even when using fake bullets on set, film crews have to be very careful because the potential for damage from fake bullets is still very high. Actor Brandon Lee - son of legendary actor Bruce Lee - passed away at the age of 28 on the set of the Hollywood film The Crow in 1993, due to a piece of fake bullet.
