This afternoon, June 25, the Traffic Police Department of Kon Tum province said it had a quick report on a traffic accident on Vi O Lac pass that left 1 person dead and 3 injured.
Accordingly, at around 11:00 a.m. the same day, Mr. Huynh Nhat Tung (53 years old, residing in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam) was driving a car with license plate 92B - 002.72 on National Highway 24, in the direction from Kon Tum to Quang Ngai. The car was carrying 34 people (including players of the Quang Nam Youth Football Club and 1 fan).

When reaching Km69+570 on Vi O Lac pass, the above car suddenly collided with a truck with license plate 77H - 045.22 driven by Mr. NHV (30 years old, residing in Binh Dinh) parked on the side of the road in the opposite direction.
After the collision, the car carrying the players continued to collide with a car with license plate 51G - 059.91 driven by Mr. HTD (40 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) traveling in the opposite direction. After that, the car carrying the players flipped over to the side of the road.
As a result, player Vo Minh Hieu (21 years old, residing in Tinh An commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai) died; 3 other people in the car carrying the player were slightly injured, including: Mr. Phan Van Hai (64 years old, fan), Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung (21 years old, residing in Thang Binh district, Quang Nam), Mr. Luong Quang Huy (24 years old, residing in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam). 3 cars were severely damaged.
According to the initial assessment of the police, at the time of the accident, the car carrying the player had lost its brakes. However, the cause of the incident is still pending investigation by the authorities.

On the afternoon of June 25, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province, said that regarding the above accident, the department had sent forces to be on duty at Quang Nam General Hospital to visit and care for the injured players.
According to Mr. Hong, the body of player Vo Minh Hieu has been taken back to his hometown by Kon Tum provincial authorities for funeral arrangements. Of the three injured, two players suffered minor injuries, and one fan who was cheering along suffered a broken arm and is being treated at Quang Nam Provincial General Hospital.
Currently being treated at Quang Nam General Hospital, with injuries to his arms, legs, and abdomen, player Luong Quang Huy is still in shock.

According to Mr. Huy, at around 11 o'clock that same day, the car was going down Vi O Lac pass when, suspecting that the brakes had failed, the driver immediately swerved to avoid another car driving in front... When he saw that the car was in danger of falling into the abyss, a person sitting in the car quickly grabbed the steering wheel to pull the car onto the embankment on the side of the cliff, and the car flipped over.
"If it weren't for this person's quick thinking, the whole car would have plunged into the abyss. When the car overturned, everyone on board panicked. Many people around came to help, many had to break the doors to get out," said Mr. Huy.
Footballer Nguyen Phi Hung (also currently in the hospital) said that at the time of the accident, he was sitting and talking to the person sitting next to him.

"My friends and I tried to break the glass and escape. When we got out of the car, I saw player Vo Minh Hieu thrown out onto the street and lying unconscious. Before that, Hieu was sitting in the back row of the car, next to the window," Mr. Hung recalled.
After the incident, Mr. Hung and two other victims were taken to Quang Nam General Hospital for treatment. Mr. Hung suffered soft tissue injuries to his arms and legs and had to stay in the hospital for observation.
