Dam River connects with Ban Thach River, is the largest regulating lake in the city, storing water in the flood season, and providing water for agricultural production and daily life in the hot season. Every day when the tide rises and falls, the water flow in the river will change.
During the war, this was a wild swamp full of reeds and sedges, providing shelter for the resistance fighters. After the war, people reclaimed the swamp to grow rice and other crops, so the reeds and sedges were reduced. The only remaining biodiversity was flooded areas with sedges growing wildly.
