The Suff and DTU_Titan teams shared the joy of receiving all the top prizes at the "ROBOG 2024" competition.

"ROBOG 2024" is a programming competition, developing Robot and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology jointly organized by IPPTech, UBTECH and Van Lang University with the theme "Discovering AI".

The appeal of the competition has attracted a large number of students from high schools and universities with strengths in information technology training, research and robotics manufacturing, including:

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Lac Hong University, Duy Tan University, Hue University of Science, Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology, and a mixed group of members from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and University of Economics and Law under Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Conquer the arena "ROBOG 2024"

Duy Tan University students conquered the national "ROBOG 2024" arena with awards in the C/C++ category, for the majority of university students: 1 special prize, 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 1 Creative Idea prize.

Winning the top prize has made The Suff team of Duy Tan University become the representative of Vietnam to attend the World Finals scheduled to take place in February 2025 in China.

Specifically, the national arena of the 2024 ROBOG competition is divided into 3 groups, including:

- Group A: For candidates in the age group 7-14 years old,

- Group B: For candidates in the age group 13-18 years old,

- Table C/C++: For candidates in the age group 15-23 years old.

Participating in the competition, the teams equipped themselves with UBTECH's AI Robotics teaching aids to conquer the challenge of programming AI Robots and completing tasks on the sand table. In the final round, the teams in the C/C++ category programmed robots according to the topic "The Future of AI Robots".

Using the same Yanshee humanoid robot design and UGOT kit, the teams had different innovations in AI programming to perform the tasks given by the exam such as: Voice response recognition, Color recognition, Character recognition, Face recognition, Controlling robot movements such as climbing stairs, crossing fences, picking up items, dropping items...

The Suff and DTU_Titan teams confidently conquer the competition with intelligent and flexible programmed robots.

In the C/C++ group, the two teams of Duy Tan University, The Suff and DTU_Titan, excelled over all other teams to win most of the major awards:

Special prize and first prize: The Suff team with 3 members: Tran Duy Khai, Nguyen Le Anh Tuan, and Bui Thi Bich Hieu programmed their team's robot with extremely flexible competition tactics, high accuracy and stability.

One of the impressive highlights is that you have created a robot with outstanding ability in recognizing directions, and can accurately self-adjust when encountering deviations.

While other teams used the BLIND method, The Suff team used signals from gyro sensors to help the robot move straighter and determine the direction.

In addition, programming the robot's ability to recognize voices and faces with absolute accuracy helped the team always win full points in these two tasks.

The Suff team's robot was the first and only to move from the starting position and reach the finish line in the ROBOG 2024 National Finals.

Second Prize and Creative Idea Prize: Team DTU_Titan with 4 members: Pham Vu Khanh Truong, Phan Duc Tai, Nguyen Le Phuong, and Vo Thanh Tung used algorithms to program an intelligent robot with effective competition strategies to achieve high scores.

One of them is the strategy of sticking close to the wall to position the robot straight before performing the tasks of crossing the fence and climbing the stairs. Therefore, the robot of the DTU_Titan team passed these two tasks smoothly while the robots of other teams were prone to falling when performing these tasks.

The DTU_Titan team was just a little unlucky at the finish line when the changing light interfered with the signal, causing the robot to misidentify the direction.

Moments of intense competition between The Suff and DTU_Titan teams

Because they receive the same robot model in the competition, victory will go to the smart and creative team that comes up with the most effective programming solution to help the robot compete well.

Robots from both teams from Duy Tan University demonstrated high accuracy in recognition and movement, completing all 6 tasks set by the organizers, while many other teams only achieved 2-3 or maximum 4 tasks.

With talent and relentless effort, DTU_Titan and The Suff completed all the advanced missions, opening up a great opportunity for the final victory.

Overview of the competition at "ROBOG 2024" nationwide

Master the technology

Student Tran Duy Khai - captain of The Suff - shared: "Although we have only been familiar with robots for a short time, the knowledge of AI and ML programming learned at DTU has helped us quickly master the technology to program robots in the best way.

We were able to consult Yanshee robots and practice with extremely modern equipment to design and build robots at STEM&FAB Labs of Duy Tan University.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the teachers at the School of Computer Science (SCS), School of Technology (SET), STEM&FAB Labs and the board of directors of Duy Tan University for their advice, support, encouragement and creating conditions for us to complete the product and participate in this contest.

In the coming time, The Suff will continue to face many bigger challenges when continuing to upgrade the features of Robot Yanshee in addition to coordinating with Robot UGOT to overcome the challenges in the World Finals in China early next year, February 2025."

Prizes at the ROBOG 2024 C/C++ Finals:

* Special Prize and First Prize : The Suff Team of Duy Tan University.

* Second Prize and Creative Idea Prize : DTU_Titan Team of Duy Tan University,

* Third prize : HUFLIT AI PIONEERS and HUFLIT Robotics teams of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology.

* Encouragement prize : Team LHU_BRIGHT of Lac Hong University and team ROBOTRONIX of group of 3 schools including Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and University of Economics and Law under Ho Chi Minh City National University.
