Team DTU_DZ_1 of Duy Tan University won first prize in the open source software category at the 33rd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad held at Hanoi University of Industry from December 10 to 13.
The 33rd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Association of Information Technology and the Vietnam Student Association to promote the learning movement and foster young IT talents. There were 159 teams from 87 universities, colleges and academies nationwide participating in the competition in different sections and groups.
In the open source software competition, there were 20 teams from many universities from North to South, including many schools that are very strong in information technology training, always having high achievements in previous years such as: Hanoi University of Industry, Can Tho University, Hanoi Open University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education,...
Teams were asked to build an application that would serve the community in emergency response, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance. Most teams focused on building maps that showed danger zones, safe zones, and routes for rescue teams.
Team DTU_DZ_1, consisting of 3 members: Le Minh Tuan, Tran Nguyen Duy Khanh and Trinh Minh Son from Duy Tan University, after realizing the duplication and low possibility of success when having to complete many features in a short time, the whole team decided to choose a completely different direction.
Team DTU_DZ_1 designed an application called Green Hope and made a strong impression because this is the only topic that applies both Blockchain and AI technology in a standard way, operates effectively and most importantly, is placed at the right time, solving the right problems that currently exist such as: Difficulty in searching, rescuing (specifically in Lang Nu), or the situation of fraudulent donations from some organizations in the past decade.
With the goal of "Finding victims in time, lighting up green hope after natural disasters", Green Hope aims for 3 core goals:
Realtime Rescue: Using video analysis technology from flycams and security cameras with YOLO and TensorFlow models to quickly detect victims and provide timely support.
Transparent Charity: Applying Blockchain, compiling smart contracts using Solidity ensures that all donation transactions are stored transparently and anti-fraud. The service uses NestJS with the powerful coordination of hardhat - the most powerful solidity contract compilation and deployment tool today.
Community Engagement: Create a platform to propose and coordinate post-disaster reconstruction, towards a more sustainable society.
Green Hope is not only a technological solution but also a bridge of compassion, bringing green hope to difficult circumstances. The application is built systematically and very effectively. The system will become more superior and stronger if given more time and resources to develop.
With a score of 75, team DTU_DZ_1 excelled over its competitors and won first prize in the open source software competition. The judges highly appreciated the score and product of DTU_DZ_1.
In recognition of their contributions to the Informatics Olympiad movement, the Vietnam Association for Information Technology awarded certificates of merit to the heads, deputy heads of delegations and coaches. Among them, Dr. Huynh Ba Dieu - Head of the Information Systems and Networks Department (CMU), Faculty of International Training (IS) of Duy Tan University was awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Association for Information Technology for his outstanding contributions in training students to achieve high results in the Informatics Olympiad for Vietnamese Students and the International Student Programming Contest (ICPC).
Accompanying Duy Tan University students to participate in this year's competition, MSc. Nguyen Quoc Long - lecturer of DTU's information technology department - commented on the competition: "This year's topic focuses on developing the Low-code platform (LCDP) to integrate technologies such as artificial intelligence, real-time data analysis and digital maps to optimize search, rescue, damage assessment and resource management.
In the context of strong teams from all schools, continuous and systematic investment and the constant application of many advanced technologies in training in the field of information technology, Duy Tan students always have many opportunities to study and confidently conquer major competitions.
As the leader of team DTU_DZ_1, student Le Minh Tuan shared: "With only half a month to build the application, we had to research and master a completely new technology trend. The pressure on time, product efficiency and the meaning of contributing to the community was enormous.
That is what motivated us to work tirelessly and put all our heart into completing the application. Winning first prize in the competition not only helped us affirm our abilities but also gave us a strong belief that: If we continue to nurture the flame of passion and effort, we can conquer great goals and become more outstanding people on the journey ahead.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Master Nguyen Quoc Long - our dedicated instructor and companion. To us, he is a great source of inspiration in both professional, study and life.
He directed the development of a transaction transparency application using Blockchain and AI for search and rescue, helping the team make a difference. This victory is not only the team's achievement but also a testament to the dedication and responsibility of the teacher - the one who instilled in us the flame of passion and dedication."
