In the second round, Huy Hoang was left far behind in the first 150m, but still tried to catch up with the two athletes from Singapore and Malaysia. Quy Phuoc tried to narrow the gap so that Hung Nguyen could make the decisive turn. In his strong distance, Hung Nguyen accelerated strongly to surpass both opponents, thereby bringing home the gold medal.
The Vietnamese team's achievement was 7 minutes 18 seconds 51, less than the old record at SEA Games 31 (7 minutes 16 seconds 31).
18:56': Pham Thanh Bao was the first to complete the 50m. In the sprint, he continued his form by finishing first in the 100m breaststroke, thereby winning the gold medal with a time of 1 minute 0.97 seconds, a new record at the Southeast Asian Games.

18:43': The Vietnamese men's volleyball team could not create any surprises and continued to lose 18-25 in the third set, thereby accepting a final defeat of 0-3 against Indonesia. Ngoc Thuan and his teammates still have a chance to compete for the SEA Games bronze medal.
18:38': Vietnamese swimming prodigy Nguyen Thuy Hien could not compete for medals with her Singaporean and Thai opponents. The young Vietnamese athlete finished 6th out of 8 athletes competing in the women's 200m freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 07 seconds 17. 18:28': Vietnamese-American athlete Jeremie Loic Nino Luong finished 3rd in the final of the men's 50m freestyle, winning the bronze medal with a time of 22 seconds 84. The gold medal went to 20-year-old Singaporean athlete Jonathan Tan with a time of 21 seconds 95. Previously, he also won the gold medal in the men's 100m freestyle.

16:49' : At 17:30 this afternoon (May 7), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will have a semi-final match with Indonesia, the strongest opponent in the region. Indonesia showed their strength by winning all 3 group stage matches against Cambodia, Singapore and the Philippines without losing any set.
16:12': Thai Thi Hong Thoa lost to her Thai opponent, Sarachit, 2-13 in the women's petanque final, thus unable to defend the SEA Games women's single petanque gold medal.
