At the 2024 National Book Awards ceremony, the book The Teacher by the late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, published by the People's Army Publishing House, won the C prize and the Readers' Favorite Book prize. She said that in 2023, The Teacher received the Readers' Favorite Book Award from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This year, the work continues to be loved by readers with two awards, which is also a mark. "I think the book has somewhat spread, touching everyone's feelings," said Ms. Ngoc. As a special reader of her husband, Ms. Ngoc said that The Teacher not only writes about Mr. Ba Quoc - a hero in the intelligence industry, but also recounts the life and efforts of General Vinh in this job. Of course, the intelligence industry has its own characteristics, so it cannot be fully described in the work. "This is a book my husband has been thinking about for a long time. Mr. Ba Quoc is the one who guided my husband in his career and as a person. He is Mr. Vinh's second father and has a close relationship with my family. That is why Mr. Vinh wrote the book to repay his teacher's kindness. Initially, the work was given many names, but in the end, The Teacher was chosen because Mr. Vinh found it the most suitable," Ms. Ngoc shared. After 20 years of planning, General Vinh started writing at the end of 2022, when he retired. In November 2023, when the manuscript was completed, he sent the book to be printed. "My husband loves literature, is hard-working and has loved reading since he was a child. Before, his family lived at 34 Ly Nam De, opposite the Military Library, so that was his favorite place to visit. Later, when he went to study in Nha Trang, he always went to the library to read books every day. My husband went to the library so much that others thought he was flirting with a girl there. After each day, he filled himself with materials. When in the hospital, after taking medicine in the morning, my husband sits at his desk to work. My family brought a printer, bought ink and paper for him to work in the hospital. We also rented a place right next to the hospital to treat him," Ms. Ngoc confided. According to Ms. Ngoc, her husband's wish to complete the book during his treatment was fulfilled. With 500 large-format pages, arranged into 7 chapters in a modern style, The Teacher not only tells the story of Mr. Ba Quoc's important contributions to the defense intelligence industry but also talks about the loss and silent sacrifice of him and his family. The work also brings to readers the life stories, missions and achievements of some famous figures, outstanding intelligence officers as well as the author's direct commander and "life and death" teammates. From the author's perspective, Major General Dang Tran Duc is a person who is willing to sacrifice for the country under the leadership of the Party, devoted to his duties, strict in work but also very ordinary, caring and close to the younger generation.
