On May 12, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy - Director of Quang Binh Department of Tourism, said that this unit has obtained information about the mysterious lake that was just discovered in Thung cave, part of the Hung Thoong cave system of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
However, when there is an official report from the exploration unit, the department will send a team to survey related technical issues in the lake before deciding whether to exploit it for tourism purposes.
According to Mr. Quy, specialized technical indicators need to be determined by techniques such as resources, field testing, analysis of safety factors for tourists, environmental sanitation, labor safety, etc.
"Only when specialized indicators are guaranteed will it be allowed to be put into operation," said Mr. Quy.
Previously, on May 10, Mr. Le Luu Dung, director of Jungle Boss Company Limited (Phong Nha, Bo Trach, Quang Binh) said that the survey team of this unit had just discovered a mysterious lake in a branch of Thung cave, part of the Hung Thoong cave system.
What's special is that this lake is located about 15 meters higher than the main underground river in the cave, so the lake seems to "hang" on the cave wall.
Observing with the naked eye, this lake is located about a kilometer from the cave entrance and has a surface area of several hundred square meters. Surrounding the lake are stalactites.
The survey team has not been able to measure the depth of the lake because they do not have enough diving equipment. The team has also not found the source of water flowing into this mysterious lake.
Because of the lake's unique location, the survey team has temporarily named the lake Suspended Lake.
