Engineer Nguyen No (Hanh Thuan commune, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province) has just invented a 4M multi-function electric medical bed to give to the elderly and poor patients.

Sharing about the idea of a multi-purpose medical bed, Mr. No said: “Two years ago, when my mother was sick and had to stay in one place, I had the idea of making a multi-purpose bed so that when she lay down, she would not get bedsores, it would be easier to clean, and she could move out to the garden to look around. But when I finished the bed frame, my mother passed away.”
After a while, Mr. No decided to complete this multi-purpose medical bed. He thought that not only his mother but also many sick people who had to stay in one place, and the elderly who could not move around also wanted to have a more comfortable sleep, without pain when the weather changed.
The 4M electric multi-function medical bed includes a wheel system with a fixed locking mode, a 12V power box, a bed position control button, a toilet, an electric cylinder lift motor, a pump, and an anti-decubitus air mattress. According to him, the cost of assembling a multi-function medical bed is only about 3 million VND, only 1/4 of the market price.
Mr. No said: “At first, my team and I encountered many difficulties, especially assembling the hydraulic lifting belt to suit the patient. We disassembled and reassembled it many times. I also installed automatically controlled push wheels to help move easily, the medical bed can raise the head and lower the legs; especially, we focused on limiting the condition of blood vessels being blocked due to lying down for too long by using an anti-decubitus air mattress including an air cushion and a pump.”

The successfully manufactured 4M multi-function electric medical bed brings many benefits, helping patients feel comfortable during treatment, easy to move, limit ulcers, sleep better, good for the spirit of the elderly, the sick and support patient care.
Currently, the first beds have been completed and given to the elderly and poor patients in Hanh Thuan commune (Nghia Hanh district). He said: “Through initial experience, patients will contribute ideas to improve the advantages and disadvantages of the bed. Most people are very happy to receive the medical beds, this is the motivation for me to continue making more beds to give to patients and the elderly in difficult circumstances.”

Mr. No is continuing to complete 5 beds with a more efficient upgraded version after practical experience. He will donate these beds to the elderly and poor patients in Hanh Thuan commune.
He said: “With the desire to spread social values to many people, I will join with benefactors, first of all my brothers, to do charity work to produce multi-purpose medical beds. Next, I will coordinate with departments, branches, and organizations to have more funding sources, produce many multi-purpose electric medical beds to support the elderly and poor patients in the province in general, and Nghia Hanh district in particular, for free.”
