Bac Lieu OCOP products are in high demand during Tet holiday

OCOP products not only ensure clean and safe criteria but also stand out with superior quality, suitable for consumption trends and Tet gifts.

In previous years, Tet gift baskets often included traditional items such as cakes, candies, jams, tea, etc. However, in recent years, Tet gift baskets have changed significantly, especially with the presence of OCOP products. Bac Lieu province currently has 154 OCOP products from 74 recognized entities, of which 32 products have achieved 4 stars and 122 products have achieved 3 stars. Some typical products in the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) Program of Bac Lieu from the province's key agricultural products, including agricultural products processed from shrimp, rice, salt and woven products. These are outstanding specialties, helping to promote local economic development and increase the value of Bac Lieu's agricultural products in the market. OCOP products are very diverse for entities to package OCOP gifts to serve during Tet.

Currently, OCOP product manufacturers in Bac Lieu are busy preparing unique Tet gift baskets, imbued with the flavors of local specialties. Production facilities from all over the province have taken creative steps in designing and packaging OCOP products into "combo" Tet gift baskets that are both eye-catching and rich in variety. Ms. Nguyen Hong Dieu, representative of Thanh Thuy dried product production facility in Dien Hai commune, Dong Hai district, said: With 12 specialty products, including 5 OCOP products, the facility has received orders for Tet gifts, this year double that of previous years. From shrimp crackers to dried goby fish, dried shrimp , etc., these products not only have delicious flavors but are also ideal choices for Tet gift baskets with many different prices. The facility's OCOP product gift baskets cost from 0.5 - 3 million VND and are packaged according to the wishes of customers in and outside the province.

Other notable products are dried shrimp, crispy shrimp, and shrimp floss of Bac Lieu Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative No. 1. With the 3-star OCOP certification, the cooperative's shrimp products have affirmed their product quality. Made from fresh shrimp, through a meticulous processing process, the cooperative's OCOP products not only have beautiful packaging but also ensure superior quality, easily conquering the most demanding customers. In particular, the cooperative's shrimp products are currently serving the domestic and foreign markets, and are strongly favored by consumers, especially during Tet. Ms. Cao Ngoc Hang, Director of Bac Lieu Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative No. 1, said: "This year, the cooperative has prepared 3 times more OCOP products than last year. The cooperative has just sold 500kg of dried shrimp and 500kg of Chinese sausage to customers outside the province. Because the reserve goods are frozen goods, we will wrap gifts as customers order. The cooperative packages as many as customers order. Currently, it has packaged about 200 - 300 baskets of OCOP products and cooperative products." In addition, Ms. Ta Tuyet Thu's Vietnamese Agricultural Products facility in Phong Thanh Tay A commune, Phuoc Long district, is also one of the prominent OCOP entities during this year's Tet season. With 15 OCOP certified products, including 13 4-star products and 2 3-star products, Ms. Thu's facility has affirmed the quality of its products over many years. Products such as dried freshwater shrimp, dried goby fish, one-sun-pressed whiteleg shrimp, etc. are all loved by many people and have become indispensable items in Tet gift baskets.

“Every year, the facility’s OCOP products such as shrimp crackers, dried shrimp, dried foods, and vegetable crackers sell very well during Tet. I have been preparing for production for more than a month before Tet to meet the high demand of the market,” Ms. Thu shared. Mr. Dang Minh Phap, Head of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province, said: To meet market demand, OCOP entities not only focus on quality but are also very creative in the way they package products. OCOP Tet gift baskets are now not only gifts, but also a way for consumers to show their care and respect for the recipient. The combination of typical local products, ensuring the criteria of cleanliness, safety and quality has helped OCOP Tet gift baskets increasingly gain the trust of customers. With stable prices, beautiful packaging and guaranteed product quality, OCOP Tet gift baskets are chosen by many customers for this year’s Spring. This is not only a meaningful gift, but also an opportunity to spread the unique culinary culture of Bac Lieu to friends and relatives inside and outside the province.
