One of the important milestones in the green and durable materials revolution is the birth of DURAflex® Low Carbon cement board – the first “green” cement board produced in Vietnam, specifically at Hiep Phu VICO factory - Quang Tri.

Sustainable materials

According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai, General Director of Saint-Gobain Vietnam, the two exclusive technologies Reinforced™ and PureForm™ have brought outstanding benefits to DURAflex® low carbon panels. Accordingly, the product will have outstanding durability, optimized microstructure while minimizing environmental impact.

In addition, these technologies also optimize the value of the supply chain and bring practical value to consumers. For contractors and construction workers, DURAflex® Low Carbon panels help reduce material loss thanks to a 5 times lower edge breakage rate when screwing. This not only shortens construction time but also helps save costs and improve work efficiency. In particular, the product is completely free of asbestos or heavy metals, helping to protect the health of users, while also being fireproof, ensuring construction safety.

Focusing on environmental protection throughout the production process, the first “green” cement board produced in Vietnam not only contributes to reducing 112,410 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to planting 5.1 million trees, but also reuses nearly 15,500m³ of water, equivalent to the water needs of 970 households, data recorded when applying new technology to the production of DURAflex Low Carbon boards. This is a clear demonstration of Saint-Gobain’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, while contributing to the goal of global carbon neutrality by 2050.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai emphasized: “When researching and developing new products, we not only focus on functionality to bring the best quality products but also focus on sustainability. This is also the general trend of the market and our strategic direction.”

Not only stopping at DURAflex® Low Carbon panels, products from Hiep Phu Factory - VICO Quang Tri all aim at the criteria of light, green, sustainable and aesthetic. Typically, Vinh Tuong Anh Kim 2025 suspended ceiling panels, this is a collection of Saint-Gobain inspired by the pride in the brilliant beauty of the landscape and the quintessence of Vietnamese culture. Not only providing a Beautiful-Cool-Colorfast ceiling solution for users over 5 years, but the product also brings Green value to the project thanks to being produced on DURAflex® Low Carbon cement board.

In addition, the factory is also committed to sustainable goals by 2030 such as: 100% reuse of industrial wastewater, all product groups are assessed by life cycle (LCA) to monitor and limit environmental impact...

Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai said that the company will soon deploy a biomass project - using biomass materials to provide steam for the production process. This is a testament to Saint-Gobain's strong commitment to developing environmentally friendly building materials.

Sustainable investment for the Central region

The Hiep Phu VICO factory in Quang Tri with its European standard production line is an important step in the long-term development strategy of Saint-Gobain Vietnam. With an investment of VND 220 billion, the seventh factory of Saint-Gobain Vietnam has a capacity of 5 million m² of panels / year, expanding the supply capacity of durable and green materials for areas with harsh climates and typical weather factors such as storms, heavy rain and high temperatures.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai shared: “We do not see the climate in the Central region as a challenge but as an opportunity to develop suitable products, bringing practical value to users and proving the high quality of our products in real conditions”. Mr. Hai commented that the Central region is a land with great development potential, leading to increased urbanization, the demand for housing and a better life will create great opportunities for building material suppliers to bring the best quality solutions to the people.

“We not only provide construction materials but also bring comfort to every home, with high-quality , durable and green products from a corporation committed to long-term sustainable development in the locality,” Mr. Hai affirmed.
