On September 19, the Co.opmart supermarket chain in the Central region said it had prepared a response plan for the rainy season in the region, including provinces from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan.
According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), the system quickly increased the amount of goods in reserve by 3 times compared to normal days. The essential items that were increased include rice, instant noodles, sugar, fish sauce, cooking oil, seasoning powder, MSG, green vegetables, tubers, fruits, pork, beef, chicken of all kinds, etc.
Saigon Co.op distribution centers nationwide have planned transportation and timely supply of goods to the Co.opmart supermarket system and Co.op Food stores in the Central region. Accordingly, 19 Co.opmart supermarkets recorded that as of September 19, the supply of goods was guaranteed, with no shortage of goods.
800 points of sale also became satellite warehouses, storing goods in a unified and effective manner. Co.opmarts and Co.op Foods in the Northern region quickly overcame the consequences of storm No. 3 (Yagi), ready to bring goods that had been previously stored by the system to support the Central region.

Saigon Co.op cooperates with strategic suppliers to reserve additional essential goods at their distribution centers to ensure abundant supply and stable supply of goods to people in the Central region.
In addition, with extensive experience in dealing with bad weather, Saigon Co.op also proactively increases supply from raw material areas and available sources in the provinces; especially meat, poultry, and vegetables.
In addition, supermarket staff are stationed at the product lines, cash registers, warehouses, etc., ready to stock shelves and support customers in shopping safely and quickly.
“From the experience of coping with storm No. 3 Yagi, Saigon Co.op continues to implement a non-profit sales program , keeping prices stable, implementing special pricing policies for strategic items during the rainy season such as vegetables, fruits, purified water, and instant foods that do not require processing,” added a representative of Saigon Co.op.
Along with Saigon Co.op, many other retailers also said they will increase shipments, especially of vegetables and fruits, to the Central region to ensure supply and stabilize prices.
