Two male actors playing the main roles in two different family films, but both with difficult circumstances, are two "key" Vietnamese films for the 4-day holiday.

Both films will be released from August 30th. “Get rich with ghosts” starring Hoai Linh and "Two Salts" starring Quyen Linh is the highlight of this year's National Day holiday, from August 31 to September 3.
The two films share the same motif of wanting to become rich and change one's life. The central character later realizes that wealth cannot come overnight. The difference is that one film uses a humorous and horror style to tell the story, while the other uses a dramatic style, exploiting everyday stories to convey the message.
"Ginger is spicy, salt is salty, please don't forget each other"
"Two Salts" belongs to the family drama genre, built in an emotional direction. The film stars Quyen Linh as the main character, telling the story of a father and son who make salt in Thieng Lieng island (Ho Chi Minh City). Mr. Hai (Quyen Linh) is a single father raising his children, working hard because he always wants the best for his daughter named Muoi (played by Diep Bao Ngoc).
Although close and filial, the father-daughter relationship between Mr. Hai and his daughter began to crack when the girl had a new life in the city. Feeling sorry for her father's hardships, Muoi wanted to earn money as quickly as possible and began to have many disagreements with Mr. Hai. Meanwhile, the father always wanted his son to be honest and never lose himself, like the line "Ginger is spicy, salt is salty, please don't forget each other" in the trailer.

"Two Salts" marks Quyen Linh's return as an actor. The last time he acted in a movie was 20 years ago in “When men get pregnant” (2004).
For this film, Quyen Linh said he had to lose nearly 30kg and grow his beard and hair naturally, and return to Thieng Lieng hamlet to learn about the life of salt farmers and gain experience to play the role of a person who makes a living by making salt. At the press conference to launch the film, Quyen Linh said he sympathized and saw himself in the main character as he also has 2 daughters of school age.
Greed must pay
Contrary to "Two Salts" about genre, movie “Get rich with ghosts” It is both humorous and horror, but also revolves around father-son love.
The film is about a father and son, Mr. Dao and Lanh (Hoai Linh, Tuan Tran), in a poor working-class neighborhood. Mr. Dao works as a coffin carrier, while Lanh has a gambling habit and often plays cockfighting for money. Lanh's debt gets worse and worse, and the relationship between father and son becomes more and more fractured.

When Lanh meets a female ghost (Diep Bao Ngoc), the ghost makes a deal with Lanh to ask for his help, in return promising to help him win games of chance to earn money. The condition is that each time, Lanh can only earn a maximum of 30 million VND. If this amount is exceeded, Lanh's blessings will quickly decline and his loved ones will suffer. Many troubles and tragedies follow, causing his family to fall apart and he will receive an expensive lesson.
In the film, Hoai Linh had to carry Tuan Tran, who was taller and 20kg heavier than him, in a scene that was repeated 20 times. Tuan Tran had a natural acting style, but had to face the challenge of renewing himself because he had played the role of a son with a strong personality or who often disobeyed his parents in previous films such as "Godfather," "Mai"./.
In addition to the two films mentioned above, the theater also shows a number of other works such as horror films. "Ghost skin" (Vietnam), “Afraid” (US), an action film “Hellboy vs. Hellboy,” a romantic comedy "The female pilot" (Korea) and children's movies “200% cool wolf” (America). |
