Launch of the Vietnam-Binh Dinh F1H20 powerboat racing team

NDO - On January 18, in the coastal city of Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh province), the launching ceremony of the F1H2O Vietnam-Binh Dinh powerboat racing team took place. The tournament is expected to take place around the end of March 2024 in Quy Nhon city.

After negotiations, the Swedish sailing team signed an agreement with Fleur de Lys Hospitality Company (Vietnam) to change its name to the Formula 1 powerboat racing team VIET NAM - BINH DINH TEAM to participate in international competitions and world championships organized by the International Powerboat Federation UIM. The VIET NAM - BINH DINH team consists of 2 members, including the reigning world champion Jonas Andersson and Stefan Arand, the Estonian rookie who will be Jonas Andersson's teammate this season.

Jonas Andersson had a successful 2023, winning several prestigious awards such as the UIM F1H2O Cup and the UIM Fastest Lap Cup, and helping Team Sweden win the UIM Championship for the first time. Meanwhile, Arand made his World Championship debut and finished third overall behind Rashed Al-Qemzi and Edgaras Riabko in the 2023 UIM F2 World Championship. The Estonian's dream is to become F1H2O World Champion after winning the UIM F4 World and European Championship titles in 2022.

World champion Jonas Andersson shared his thoughts at the ceremony.

“I have met Stefan and I am very happy that we will be teammates this season,” said Andersson. “Although only 20 years old, Stefan is the F4 world champion in 2022 and finished third in F2 last year in his debut season. I think we will become a strong team and I will do my best for this.” Sharing about this groundbreaking sporting event, Mr. Tran Viet Anh said: “Vietnam is a country that loves sports. Formula 1 powerboat racing is a new sport in Vietnam, so we want to popularize this fast and adventurous sport to many Vietnamese people. Hopefully in the future there will be more than one Vietnamese racing team participating in international tournaments.”

This is a great opportunity for sports lovers in Binh Dinh province and other provinces and cities across the country to directly witness dramatic and memorable races. The tournament will take place in Quy Nhon city, the F1H20 Organizing Committee has confirmed that this place fully meets international standards in terms of water surface, wind strength, natural conditions and culture to become the world's leading water sport venue.

Binh Dinh Province will host the UIM-ABP Aquabike Water Motorcycle Race starting from March 22-24 along with many other exciting events such as food, fashion, music festivals, etc.
