On August 31, the weekend which was also the first day of the National Day holiday on September 2, key tourist areas in Quang Ninh province were bustling with many tourist groups coming to visit and relax.
With the advantage of synchronous and modern transport infrastructure with Van Don International Airport, Hanoi - Ha Long - Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway, Ao Tien High-class Port... and many 4-5 star hotels and resorts that have come into operation, the island routes of Van Don district and Co To district have become attractive tourist destinations for visitors right on the first day of the National Day holiday on September 2. In addition to the advantage of transport infrastructure, the capacity to serve the accommodation needs of the island communes has also increased sharply, which is a plus for tourists when choosing Van Don as a resort destination. Statistics show that, compared to the same period in 2023, Quan Lan island commune has put more than 200 rooms into operation for tourists, Minh Chau island commune has more than 100 rooms, and Co To island district has nearly 200 rooms.
Mr. Le Minh Manh, Port Manager of Ao Tien High-class Port (Van Don District) said: On the first day of the National Day holiday, 19 transport enterprises increased their service staff to ensure the best for 60 ships departing (compared to normal days, an increase of about 30-40 ships). In case the ships are full, there will be about 20 reserve ships to continuously serve customers. It is expected that on the first day of the holiday, about 6,000 passengers will pass through the port (equal to 60% of the number of passengers during the September 2 holiday in 2023). With the high number of passengers, the unit has put another wharf into operation; arranged a canopy for the area where passengers stand to check in; moved the toll collection point for vehicles entering and exiting the port at the Tam Quan gate for convenience; based on the departure schedule of the ship owners, the unit organizes traffic flow and arranges specific locations for each vehicle. In particular, port tickets have been upgraded to hard cards so visitors only take about 1-2 minutes to complete ticket purchase procedures.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (a tourist from Hai Phong City) said: In 2023, we had to miss the trip to Quan Lan because all the rooms were full. Learning from experience, this year we booked rooms from the beginning of August and the whole group of 20 people were excited to go to Quan Lan during this holiday. Our first impression was that the roads were very convenient and fast, the ticket sales area was professional. With good infrastructure, beautiful scenery and attractive cuisine from Van Don seafood warehouse, we left a great impression on this holiday.
In Ha Long City, from early August 31, a large number of visitors from various places began to arrive. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, said: It is expected that the number of visitors to Ha Long will mainly concentrate on August 31 and September 1-2 because on this occasion, the locality organizes many large-scale cultural and musical events. Among them, there are unique and attractive festivals such as: Hot air balloon festival, street music program... Along with the introduction of new tourism products, the city's drastic actions in rectifying service and accommodation establishments in recent times have also made Ha Long a favorite destination for domestic and foreign tourists. According to quick reports from units, from August 31 to September 2, hotels from 3 stars and above were almost fully booked, the remaining segment reached about 85-90%.
On the first day of the holiday, Quang Ninh Museum welcomed over 3,000 visitors. Ha Long Bay had over 9,000 visitors (double the normal day before the holiday). The key tourist markets to Ha Long during this holiday are China, Korea, India, France, Australia...
