On the morning of May 26, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province announced that Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman in charge of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, had just signed an official dispatch to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee requesting approval for a number of contents related to the Project on rearranging administrative units at the district and commune levels in the province for the period 2023 - 2025. According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, for the district level, the Provincial People's Committee has developed a Project on rearranging administrative units at the district level for the period 2023 - 2025 (referred to as the project) to merge the two districts of Que Son and Nong Son to establish a new district-level administrative unit.

Considering the proposal of the Department of Home Affairs, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to consult the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to consider and give opinions on the name, office, and arrangement of cadres and civil servants for the new administrative unit after the merger of the two districts above. Specifically, after the merger, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to unify the policy of naming the new administrative unit as Que Son District.

The name Que Son is consistent with the historical and cultural traditions and aspirations of the people.

The reason is that this name meets the legal basis according to Resolution No. 35 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. In addition, Que Son District and Nong Son District have the same origin, the name Que Son has existed for a long time, in accordance with historical and cultural traditions and the aspirations of the people.

The choice of the name Que Son for the new administrative unit was agreed upon by the People's Committees of Que Son and Nong Son districts.

Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee also said that, in the initial public opinion survey, the naming of the new administrative unit as Que Son District was highly approved by the people of Que Son District and Nong Son District.

After the merger, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province proposed to place the administrative unit's headquarters at the current headquarters of Que Son district.

This plan was proposed from the base, before 2008, when Que Son District had not yet been separated to form Nong Son District, the headquarters of Que Son District People's Committee (old) was located in Dong Phu Town (Que Son District).

The merger of Que Son District and Nong Son District to form a district-level administrative unit as before 2008 (old Que Son District), the placement of the headquarters of agencies in Dong Phu Town, is currently convenient for the travel, work and transactions of the majority of people in the two districts.

In addition, the headquarters of Que Son district's administrative agencies were newly built in 2022, basically ensuring the operation of the new administrative unit.

Previously, the Standing Committee of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee agreed on the policy of merging the entire natural area and population of Que Son District and Nong Son District to establish a new district-level administrative unit.
