Efforts to restore the image of the pearl island
Accordingly, the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team chaired by the Economic Department of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, is a collaboration between the City Steering Committee 389 and the Interdisciplinary Tourism Inspection Team (Department of Culture and Information), with the task of inspecting and controlling prices, service quality, tour guide quality, tourist transport vehicles such as canoes, taxis, tourist boats, etc.
The city also requested the Department of Culture - Information and Enterprises to increase propaganda and dissemination of laws on tourism business to accommodation, service and transportation units... to ensure services and safety for tourists.
At the conference "Civilized behavior in transportation, food services and communication with tourists to Phu Quoc City" held on the afternoon of November 14, Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh - Head of the Economic Department of Phu Quoc City said that the locality will strengthen cooperation with the People's Committees of communes and wards to check prices and protect tourists. Tourists who encounter situations of incorrect prices can call the hotline posted on the City People's Committee's information portal to receive timely support.
Previously, Phu Quoc City received mixed opinions from tourists about expensive service prices, many businesses operating opportunistically and ripping off customers. Although it is a destination that attracts international tourists, in the three peak tourist seasons since the beginning of this year, Phu Quoc has been knocked out of the "hot" destinations for domestic tourists. Most recently, on September 2, the number of domestic visitors to the city recorded an unprecedented record decrease of 26.5% compared to 2022.
In response to the feedback from tourists, news agencies and media, Phu Quoc City authorities have held two meetings with businesses, travel agencies, shipping lines and service vehicles in the area to find solutions to stimulate tourism, completely resolve limitations and build civilized behavior. Local tourism businesses are also making efforts to create attractive, quality products to attract tourists.
The plan to implement a series of activities to stimulate tourism in Phu Quoc this time is considered a positive and receptive move by the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City in an effort to restore the image of the "pearl island" tourism as friendly, clean, green, and attractive in the eyes of tourists.
International tourists and media are calling Phu Quoc one of the new attractive destinations.

Also in the "Plan to implement a series of activities to stimulate tourism in Phu Quoc", the leaders of the pearl island issued many activities and contents showing their determination to regain the city's tourism position with visitors. From today (November 15), three main contents will be implemented, including: Organizing a series of communication activities and promoting tourism; organizing a series of events to attract tourism to Phu Quoc and strengthening state management of tourism.
Specifically, the city will coordinate with local tourism businesses to organize the "WOW Phu Quoc" campaign, calling on media channels to actively promote the image of Phu Quoc tourism. In December, the "WOW Phu Quoc" tourism portal website was also launched, contributing to bringing the city's tourism information closer to visitors. Also next month, each visitor to the tourist city will receive a welcome message and instructions on accessing the portal to learn about attractive experiences.

The series of events "Phu Quoc Green Day" will also be held periodically, demonstrating a strong determination to protect and preserve the environment to be greener and cleaner, with a variety of programs for local people and tourists to participate in, typically the Marathon "Cadres, people and tourists - Run for the environment", with each kilometer of the run contributing 1,000 VND to the fund to build a waste plant in Phu Quoc. Tourists can participate in the activity of exchanging trash for travel experiences, including tickets to entertainment areas, gift cards or food services on the island city.
