BTO-Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai has just sent an official dispatch to a number of departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities in the province to strictly implement measures to prevent and control African swine fever (ASF).
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to strictly implement the contents of Directive No. 21/CT - TTg dated July 14, 2024 of the Prime Minister. In particular, preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to organize inspections and supervision of the prevention and control of ASF. Strengthen monitoring and grasp of disease information in localities with high pig farming density, localities bordering provinces where ASF is occurring. Coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to drastically and synchronously implement solutions to prevent and control ASF.
Prepare human resources and equipment to promptly respond when ASF occurs in the province. In particular, proactively coordinate closely with localities to strengthen disease surveillance, promptly conduct testing when detecting sick pigs or dead pigs with symptoms of ASF.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested localities to guide farmers to increase the application of hygiene and disinfection measures in barns and surrounding areas at high risk. Promote biosafety farming, build disease-free facilities and farming areas. Strictly handle cases of buying, selling, transporting sick pigs, dumping dead pigs that spread disease, pollute the environment, etc.
Previously, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 21/CT-TTg dated July 14, 2024 to localities on strictly implementing measures to prevent and control ASF. The implementation contents of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province are aimed at proactively preventing and controlling ASF in the province in a timely and effective manner.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, since the beginning of the year, there have been over 660 outbreaks of ASF in 44 provinces and cities, forcing the destruction of over 42,400 pigs, especially in the provinces of Bac Kan, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh, Son La, Quang Nam and Long An... causing losses to farmers. Currently, ASF is on the rise, with a high risk of widespread spread, which could affect food supplies, consumer price indexes and the environment.
In Binh Thuan, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the livestock situation in the province is relatively stable. In particular, there have been no dangerous outbreaks, and some other infectious diseases have occurred sporadically and have not spread into epidemics. However, ASF has occurred at Tan Long Pig Farm in Tan Ha Commune, Ham Tan District (1 pig died on June 20, tested positive for ASF, and has been destroyed). The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with local authorities to request this farm to implement a number of measures to prevent and control ASF, and so far the disease has been controlled here.
