Sustainable development of OCOP products

With many unique features in terms of terrain and climate, Thanh Hoa has many products and specialties with unique regional characteristics. In implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, Thanh Hoa always focuses on ensuring product quality associated with local advantages, thereby promoting market connections and creating sustainable development for each product.

With the goal of developing the rural economy in the direction of promoting internal strength and increasing the value of key products, right from the implementation of the OCOP Program, Thanh Hoa province has determined that it must pay special attention to the factor of product quality associated with promoting the potential, advantages and cultural features, production customs and practices of local people. After more than 5 years of implementation, the whole province has 479 OCOP products, becoming one of the localities with the leading number of OCOP products in the country. Along with that, each locality and production entity always focuses on building raw material areas, investing in modern machinery and equipment and applying current quality standards, so many products are highly appreciated by the market.

In implementing the OCOP Program, Hoang Hoa district focuses on prioritizing support capital to encourage organizations and individuals. Along with that, the district always focuses on coordinating with related units to organize training courses, promote OCOP; support the introduction and promotion of OCOP products. At the same time, focus on supporting trade connections to gradually build product value chains, improve quality, expand scale and enhance the competitiveness of OCOP products. Thereby, many OCOP products of Hoang Hoa district have been favored by consumers inside and outside the province, typically: Le Gia fish sauce, shrimp paste; Mrs. Hao fish sauce; Bao An wild sim wine, Thuat Yen beef jerky, Huy Thu gai cake, Minh Truong cordyceps...

By March 2024, Hoang Hoa had developed 35 OCOP products, of which 32 products achieved 3 stars, 2 products 4 stars and 1 product 5 stars. Ms. Vu Thi Mai, owner of Tan Mai fish sauce production facility, Hoang Phu commune, shared: “Since Tan Mai fish sauce essence product and some other fish sauce and fish sauce products of Khuc Phu craft village were awarded the OCOP star, people have been very confident in sticking with the profession and focusing on investing in modern machinery and technology in production. Currently, Khuc Phu craft village products have been consumed in most provinces and cities across the country and have been promoted in many large-scale programs. OCOP certification is one of the supports for local people to increase their income, feel secure in preserving and sticking with the profession.”

In fact, most of the province's OCOP products are developed on a small scale, not having enough potential to develop and promote the consumption system. Therefore, based on the province's orientation and support and the proactive investment of economic sectors, the whole province has about 20 points and stores introducing and selling OCOP products. At the same time, the subjects have proactively brought OCOP products to e-commerce platforms. Accordingly, about 95% of OCOP products are introduced and sold on e-commerce platforms such as postmart.vn, voso.vn, shopee, lazada, alibaba and social networking platforms such as facebook, zalo, tiktok. In particular, with the goal of raising the level of OCOP products in the market, departments, branches and localities have regularly directed and guided subjects to improve and upgrade existing products through consulting, training, education and learning activities. At the same time, focus on building chain linkage projects for key OCOP products, contributing to increasing economic value, building brands for products in particular and the Thanh Hoa OCOP product ecosystem in general.

To develop sustainable OCOP products, on the basis of promoting the achieved results, Thanh Hoa province continues to focus on transferring and applying technological advances in the production and processing of OCOP products, implementing intellectual property rights, designing labels, packaging, codes, tracing the origin and origin of products... Strengthening support for OCOP establishments and entities to develop, perfect products and standardize documents, creating conditions for bringing OCOP products into modern distribution channels, retail systems and distribution points. At the same time, promoting propaganda, trade promotion, introducing products through the media, strengthening connections and exchanges at trade fairs inside and outside the province... Thereby, enhancing the competitiveness and economic value of OCOP products.
