Hand, foot and mouth disease is a disease that is transmitted directly from person to person. The most contagious stage is the first few weeks of the disease. The main route of transmission is the digestive tract, from the patient through nasal and throat secretions, saliva, and even when sneezing and coughing, the virus is also spread.
In addition, the disease can be transmitted through contact with secretions from blisters, secretions of the patient on household utensils, toys, tables, chairs, curtains, and floors.
Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent or specific treatment for hand, foot and mouth disease.
To actively prevent, combat and minimize the impact of hand, foot and mouth disease on health, especially children, the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) recommends that people proactively implement 6 disease prevention measures: personal hygiene; food hygiene; cleaning toys and living areas; collecting and treating children's waste; monitoring for early detection; isolating and promptly treating when the disease breaks out.
