The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control has just reported the infectious disease situation in week 43, in which the number of measles and hand, foot and mouth disease cases decreased.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), from October 21 to 27, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 473 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, a decrease of 3.8% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks.
The total number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 43 is 14,273 cases. Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include Binh Chanh district, Nha Be district and District 8.
Also in week 43, the city continued to record 604 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 24.7% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks.
Specifically, the total number of dengue fever cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 43 is 9,915 cases. Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include District 1, Thu Duc City and District 7.
Regarding the measles situation in week 43, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 112 measles cases, down 5.9% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of measles cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 42 is 1,305 cases. Districts with high numbers of cases include Binh Chanh district, Binh Tan district and Thu Duc city.
Talking about the measles epidemic cooling down, Ms. Le Hong Nga - Deputy Director of HCDC - said that the determination of the health sector and the coordination between relevant units have contributed to speeding up the vaccination progress.
In addition, the solution of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject" has been vigorously and practically implemented by districts in the area to avoid missing subjects who need vaccination, and to quickly control the epidemic situation.
Recommendations for disease prevention and control
To prevent measles, hand, foot and mouth disease and dengue fever, people need to continue to take measures as recommended by the health sector.
Parents should take their children to medical facilities to get two doses of measles vaccine to create immunity to prevent the disease.
