The number of measles cases in Ho Chi Minh City has decreased.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control and Prevention has just reported on the infectious disease situation for week 43, noting a decrease in the number of measles and hand, foot, and mouth disease cases.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), from October 21 to 27, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 473 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease, a decrease of 3.8% compared to the average of the previous four weeks.

The total number of hand, foot, and mouth disease cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 43 is 14,273. Districts with high numbers of cases per 100,000 people include Binh Chanh District, Nha Be District, and District 8.

Also in week 43, the entire city continued to record 604 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 24.7% compared to the average of the previous four weeks.

Specifically, the total number of dengue fever cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 43 is 9,915. Districts with high numbers of cases per 100,000 people include District 1, Thu Duc City, and District 7.

Regarding the measles situation in week 43, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 112 cases, a decrease of 5.9% compared to the average of the previous four weeks. The total number of measles cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 42 is 1,305. Districts with a high number of cases include Binh Chanh District, Binh Tan District, and Thu Duc City.

Speaking about the easing of the measles outbreak, Ms. Le Hong Nga, Deputy Director of HCDC, said that the determination of the health sector and the coordination between relevant units have contributed to accelerating the vaccination progress.

In addition, the "going door-to-door, checking every household, identifying every individual" approach has been implemented vigorously and effectively by districts and counties in the area to avoid missing anyone who needs vaccination and to quickly control the epidemic situation.

Recommendations for disease prevention and control.

To prevent measles, hand, foot and mouth disease, and dengue fever, people need to continue implementing measures recommended by the health sector.

Parents should take their children to a medical facility to receive both doses of the measles vaccine to build immunity against the disease.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, infectious diseases such as measles, dengue fever, and hand, foot, and mouth disease are on the rise. At pediatric hospitals, many children with infectious diseases are being hospitalized for treatment, and some are experiencing complications.
